Ted Koppel's final "Final Thought"

"Give this new anchor team a chance. Because if you dont, the network will put another comedy show in it's spot. And then you'll be sorry"

Very true and very funny.

Well a year from now its going to be Jimmy Kimmell Live at 11:35. Mark my words!
______________

You beat me by a minute so I will delete my post. Great post!

Subject: Ted's final thought tonight...

It was very hard seeing Morrie again, but Ted final thought was brilliant. Thanks Ted for your time!.

Good for Koppel! It's about time someone at ABC News had the guts to stand up to the Disney organziation and take those mindless bottom-line pencil-pushing drones to task.

Will it take THAT long? The Nightline body isn't even cold yet and doubtless the vultures of the Kimmell ilk already are gathering overhead. Letterman, Leno, and Conan are providing adequate late night humor. Kimmell has been nothing but overkill ever since night one, anyway--just ABC's move to be in the midnight funny mix.

If ABC attempts to fill the 11:35 slot with something other than Jimmy's fluff, the problem is, how to follow someone like Koppel.

As it is, Jimmy Kimmel is not doing that well at Midnight (ET/PT).

At 11:30, he would get a few more viewers than at Midnight, but probably a smaller share of viewers than he gets now since he'd going head-to-head with both Jay Leno and David Letterman for an entire hour instead of a half-hour.

Plus, he would also lose the lead-in of "Nightline".

Besides, from what I heard, the reason Letterman did not go to ABC in 2002 (and stayed at CBS, reportedely for less money) was that the only way Letterman would move would be if he went on at Midnight, following "Nightline". He did not want to push Ted Koppel and "Nightline" out the door. ABC did not assure him of this, so he said in essence, "Forget it! I'm staying with CBS!".

"Nightline" is perfect counter-programming for the 11:30 P.M. timeslot. Kimmel at 11:30 would not attract as many viewers----or even as many viewers in key demos----as "Nightline".

I hope that Jimmy Kimmel will mention on his show something to the effect of "I'd like to stay in my current Midnight slot. I hope the new 'Nightline' is a success. Watch it. Give the new team a try. Then stay tuned for my show".

Sorry, I will not watch Martin Bashir. He cheapens both ABC News and Nightline.
______________

Could you, perhaps, elaborate on what you find offensive about Bashir, rather than taking a two-sentence pot shot with no explanation?
______________

Do you know of Martin Bashir's 2003 Michael Jackson report. That was not real news nor will ever be news. It would be like getting the host of Access Hollywood to anchor a serious newscast - a joke.
______________

Or the former host of tabloid Inside Edition to be your high-profile "pundit."

No. Which means there must be others who don't know of it either.

Don't presume everyone knows everything you do when posting, please.
______________
