Yet another national anchor/institution is leaving the airwaves. Koppel's last broadcast is Tues 11/22.

Broadcasting a soon to be once proud profession. When the news contained journalism, with stories that informed not entertain. News that was objective not one sided where the average person could watch to get information not digested and spitted out by a talk show host. NOw we are entering a dark era where the reporter must be of a particular political persuasion and the news more on celebrity spotting than actual events that could shape our lives and effect our individual future. It was called News, that contained journalism. Ted is leaving it in the hands of others who will make Entertainment Tonight a Pulitzer candidate.

You doubtless are correct. Hoping ABC won't let Nightline devolve into a Ken and Barbie training ground for wannabe fluff types seeking credentials as "journalists." Compared to the cadre of tried and proven professionals that now is retiring and unfortunately passing on, the shoes of Koppel et al won't soon, if ever, be filled.

Not your imagination at all. Dale Hansen had to keep talking, and thus the final Nightline broadcast (at least with Ted Koppell) was joined in progress.
