Teenage Olivia on You Tube

A sweet and almost quiet 17 year old Olivia Newton-John sings "Christmas Time Down Under" from a rare made for Australian TV movie entitled "Funny Things Happen Down Under" produced around 1965 or 66. (Pounds instead of dollars are mentioned in the film) This is a film which must be restored and put on DVD for all other ON-J fans out there....The producer Pacific Films of Melbourne has since gone out of buisiness so I don't know who owns the copyright to this film.

Very cute back in 1966ish. I was born in 66 and first fell in love with Olivia in "Grease" around 1978. What guy didn't? ;D

Check out the YouTube film of her singing (lipsynching) "Physical" on Solid Gold back in 1981. Oh my! Yowza!!!

I happened to catch her a few weeks ago when she was a guest judge on one of the audition episodes of American Idol and she looked....ummm...different. Now, I know she's older and she's had some health problems...but...has she had some work done or is it just natural aging?? Also saw her on a few minutes of that God-awful reality show "Grease: You're the one that I want" about the same time and she looked...different...again.

I will say she looks good and actually much better than some other 70s/80s sex symbols do these days like Farrah and Catherine Bach of "Dukes of Hazzard" fame.

Hey WMC2006,
I agree with you that ONJ looks "different" now, to put it politely. IMHO, it was a face-lift. It has the tell-tale signs. Her skin looks like it's tight as a drum and not naturally tight. That makes me very disappointed in her. I thought she was above doing that. Oh well, that's what we get for putting people on pedestals.

My girlfriend said the same thing the other night. She was also saying its the same for the male stars from the 70s as well, many of them have not aged well such as those two paramedics from the old Emergency show. Randolph Mantooth has so much gray hair now that he could easily pass for a man 20 years older and KC from KC & The Sunshine Band. She was he has suffered from the "too much plastic surgery" department.

from what I've heard, the lady had a very nasty and near-fatal bout with breast cancer, so I'd certainly let her slide on the facelift, or any other procedure that makes her feel better about herself.

...why would they mention pounds instead of dollars? Both Australia and New Zealand have dollars as their basic unit of cash...

Until February 1966, Australia used the Pound and its three-tiered money system, but when they decimalised the system, they opted to rename it the dollar (unike Britain, which would keep the Pound name when they decimalised).

Apparently, the film was made before the dollar went into effect, in 1965 (or earlier).
