Tegna Cuts staff at WTSP-TV

Yes this takes place as Tegna is proposed to merge with Nexstar which owns WFLA and WTTA-TV.

Last week we mentioned Nexstar cutting staff in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago because of the proposed merger with Tegna.

Note cities like Tampa, San Diego, Sacramento, Indianapolis are some of the cities around the country where Nexstar and Tegna currently have separate offices but in the event the merger is finalized then its not just the layoffs they have to deal with but they have to close offices due to the merger.
