I heard that KXTN 107.5 FM in San Antonio will probably be going off the air or change formats. I have been & still is a Tejano fan but I do recognize that the music has been going down hill since 1999 or 2000. Alot people who don't know much about Tejano music think that the only reason why Tejano was popular because of Selena & that's bull. Tejano music was popular in the 1990's because of artists like Emilio Navaira,MAZZ, La Mafia,David Lee Garza Y Los Musicales & of course Selena. These artists were considered the top tier of Tejano music at that time with other great artists in the second tier. The reason why this unique music genre has lost interest is because the Tejano fans themselves DO NOT support their artists by buying their CD's or going to their shows. Another factor advertisers don't want to spend money on formats that don't generate $ for their businesses either. The other factor is the large influx of immigration that has come from Mexico & other parts of Latin America who have brought with them along with their customs their own music. These people will not listen to Tejano because they might consider it as a water down Latin format. So please people get with the program Tejano wasn't just popular because of Selena & the format did not die out either because of her death either. It's hard to believe this but it's true that this once mighty popular genre that was booming in the 90's here in the USA & Latin World has gone stale. Texas & other states in the USA that had Tejano radio stations back then have changed along with the times & that most likely will continue due to change in demographics. One more thing to say there's more Catholic radio stations in the USA than Tejano stations nowadays.
