Hi Mr David!! Is this a real station with on air djs or just with music? Do they play commercials? Do they have an audio page online? I looked for it but could not find it!

The same HD 2 format is on in Houston, Austin, McAllen, Dallas, and El Paso. It has Johnny's morning show out of SA, and Tejano music all day.

I DXed this station twice, once at 3 AM (or so) and another time at around 7 P.M. Both of these times were around October of last year. It sounded just like any other HD2 station in the area. JOCKLESS AND COMMERCIAL FREE

I know my next comment is going to sound bad, so I apologize in advance, but isnt this a waste of bandwidth? Not many latinos I know who are in the key demos that the station aims for own HD radios. I mean, most units have a higher price point that most cannot afford or wont spend the money on either.

Just because you attempt to qualify your statement by saying "I know my next comment is going to sound bad..." doesn't make it ok. Based on your statement, I can't afford an HD radio and if I did I wouldn't spend the money on it. I guess I must me one of those smarter Mexicans huh?

Obviously there are some people in decision making positions who don't agree with your racist views and found a use of their bandwith.

Would you prefer all day Klan rally info? Is that a better use of the bandwith? ::)

First off, the comment wasnt racist and quite franky, your accusations about my personal life were uncalled for Rob, In fact, im getting married to a lovely latina gal this summer, and I do quite well with her family, so your argurment it moot and without point, bless your heart you clueless git. ;)

The point I was trying to make was that quite a few folks in the demo that the station aims for would not be able to afford or want to purchase a HD radio just yet, until the price point comes down at least another 25-50 bucks, so why not put tejano on the main frequency or one of the other rimshots they own around here.

That's not racist, but is really is a stereotypical statement of huge proportions.

While many Hispanics are in entry level jobs. many are at the other end of the income spectrum. There are Hispanic lawyers, doctors, business owners, etc. In LA, the largest Lexus dealer sells more new cars to Hispanics than to any other group, and Lexus USA just named an Hispanic ad agency to capitalize on this.

Few people of any ethnicity or race or culture (Hispanic is a culture, by the way) have HD radios. They are expensive, but will be coming down in cost with the new chipsets out now.

If there is attractive programming, there is definitely a market for the receivers among Hispanics.

Dave, im in total agreement, alot of this right now comes to the allmighty dollar when it comes to the product (the radio), once those prices come down, the programming should be there. I also apologize if the comment came off a stereotype, just was trying to make a point on HD radio and why that programming should be out there on the main dial station, not a HD subtier.

Mr.texmex2007,

That station has been on since August of 2006 not 8 or 9 months. I bought my radio shortly after Super Tejano when off the air and been pleased with it for the most part. The music is up to date and has a lot of older music that takes me back! Call the station at the main number and they will send you a t-shirt that's how I got mine!

True that it is expensive and the radios are not for everyone who don't want to dish out that type of cash. I meet people all time who just bought one and they love it too! I know my buddies forked out the cash....Why?......True Tejano fans that love that music and will pay! Some other may not and that's up to them but its better than playing that predictable Ipod and recorded CD all the time.

David,

Jonny's show is being broadcast in San Antonio, Houston and Dallas. There is no Tejano HD in McAllen and Austin does not run his show he never mentions them and I have not seem anything on those stations.

I got my radio today from Amazon.com...was'nt that expensive..i'm enjoying the Tejano music also some more Classic Rock Stations.

Tejano HD 107.9-2 FM is the only TRUE Tejano station in the D/FW area eventhough it's on HD.This station brings you the best Tejano music from yesterday & even the new music from Tejano's old & up and coming artists. Yeah! there are some people in D/FW who don't want to purchase these radios because they think that they're too expensive & they think that you have to pay for subscription fees. FYI HD radios nowadays are getting cheaper & so are the HD car stereos & no people you do not have to pay any silly subscription fees.Pass the word around in D/FW that Tejano music has been around in the area 24/7 since 2006 & to purchase a HD radio.
