Telephone Hybrid Coupler Suggestion?

Greetings all!

I have a nice little side business building "studios in a box" for at-home radio talk show hosts, podcasters, etc. But a favorite piece of gear to include has been out of production for a while and I can no longer find any for sale.

I used to include the JK Audio PBXport telephone hybrid. I chose this because a) it's rackmountable and b) it's designed to interrupt the telephone between an handset and receiver, instead of taking the actual phone line. This was necessary because some people would interview guests using a VOIP phone (Vonage, etc) rather ordinary POTS from their Telco. It also worked, say in a hotel room, where the phones are often routed from a PBX. The user of my "studio in a box" never had to worry about which kind of phone line to which they had access.

But the PBXport is not available anymore. JK Audio makes the Innkeeper PBX (which accomplishes much of the same goal) but is a desktop unit and for the life of me, I can't find a kit to properly rack mount it. I also can't find one that is comparable on price made by another manufacturer.

Anybody have any ideas?

How about a Middle Atlantic shelf, such as the UMS1-3.5? That would give several options to mount the JK.

I certainly did wonder about that. My concern with a shelf, even with mounting the device to it, is that it wouldn't be as sturdy/protective as the rackmount chasis. Some of these boxes are built into road cases because the users travel with them.

Do you think this would hold up to harsh travel (a la airline checked baggage?)

If it were securely mounted to the shelf, either by opening the case and using screws/locktite/nuts/lockwashers, etc., and being in a road case, I don't see why it would be any more vunerable than any other piece of rackmount gear.
