TELETOON Launches New Digital Channel "TELETOON Retro"

Bell ExpressVu is mentioned in the press release section of the teletoon website as being the carrier, but it also looks like others *may* pick up the channel.


"Starting today, a special TELETOON Retro hour airs every evening at 7:30 pm ET/PT on TELETOON to promote the launch. From October 1, TELETOON Retro will be available as part of the Digital standard package on Bell ExpressVu. Ongoing negotiations with additional carriers are expected to be finalized by launch."

well I hope starchoice pickes it up...Allot of what they have added lately has been junk...IE the all fishing channel and all poker (ok gambling...but it is mostly poker) channel

The Gambling channel...or what ever it's called, may be crap but at least their format is open to more than just poker, should the demand come about.

Perhaps they should rebroadcast that ABC Bingo show...on second thought...never mind!

I don't mind poker but it seems to be on all the time especially on the sports channels, I guess i wished they would have added somthing more substantial like another bbc channel...they did add Setanta (yay) but I havent decided if its worth $15 a month. I don't really care for soccer but I love GAA & rugby, unfortunatly theu show mostly soccer.

In respect to Setanta, I don't think Rogers was thinking about us at all. The only people I know willing to pay the extra $14.99 plus tax are the local brittish pubs and bars.

Perhaps that's Roger's plan...get the pubs to subscribe first, then worry about the average soccer/rugby fan.

Ah, so then, it's a set standard fee that Rogers cable here most likely isn't making much profit on then...even if a large crowd of fans were to order...

Perhaps it's just there to distract the desire to hook up an illegal grey dish then?
(but I still see bars and pubs maintaining the most interest in the channel, regardless...)

I might consider it if they had more GAA, Rugby or other european sports, but I have everything right now and to add an additional $15 to add a channel that shows allot of soccer is not worth it (albeit most of it is commercial free)..Plus if I wanted to watch soccer i could turn on Fox sports world becouse that seems to be all they show.

Durring a free preview, passing through channels, I wondered the same thing at one point.

yea I never quite understood it, Fox has a soccer channel (SC doesnt carry it) so why would they need 2 channels showing it and now with Setanta SC has 3 channels that show mostly soccer (FSW, GOL & Setanta)...I know allot of people like it and sometimes I can get into a match or 2 but I would so rather watch Rugby or GAA or maybe even some F1 racing (I know speed has allot of the rights to that). what I would really like to have is the new Big Ten Network, but i think there is little chance of that.
