Televangelist Kearney Thomas

I was scrolling thru the channels on my Charter cable line-up one night and came upon this neurotic, weird individual.

He was directing people to call in for their "Personal Prayer Packet" so he could "begin to pray for them immediately"

I called in and about 10 days later, got mine.

I was instructed, in the letter.. to write down my prayer needs and eenclose an offering.

I did both.. My offering? $1.00 in quarters!!

Want to hear an even nuttier televangelist? Watch so-called Pastor Paul Scott sometime on the ION Channel. He comes on at Midnight every weeknight. He is so nutty that squirrels feed off of him. He is also a big time begger. Once I saw the snake oil he was peddling and that was begging and asking people to lay hands on their TV, I automatically turned him off.

paul you could have just sent me the dollar i could have done the same thing ;D wheres that metallica cd??oh here...send me money send me fame heaven you will meet make your contribution and you;ll get the better seat----bow to leper messiah (1986)--master of puppets lp

Don't forget to add Jimmy Swaggert and Mr. Toupee; the Rev. Ernest Angely to the mix. What is truly sad is the number of individuals who will actually give money to these charlatans thinking that is the way towards some sort of salvation. You want religion, go to church. TV is not the answer; and these frauds on the boob-tube are nothing but flim-flam artists.

Are you saying that they want Swaggart on TBN, or they don't want Swaggart on TBN?

sawaggert himself doesnt want to be on there. but they wouldnt let him if he did. they are name it claim it..he is cross of christ (his doctrine since 1997)..ps i am in baton rouge. i know some people there.

Somebody may know who I'm talking about here but there's a show on TBN co-hosted by Kirk Cameron and some guy who's name I don't know. Anyway, this guy goes out into the field (without Kirk) and "interviews" people aka "sinners." He askes them several innocuous questions and if they didn't pass his morality litmus test, he calls them names. He called one girl and "lying, thieving tart." Because she stole something small one time and was living with her boyfriend and had initially lied to him about stealing something small. Yeah, that's a great way to convert people there buddy. Anybody know this a-hole's name?

That'd be Ray Comfort.

I love that show- it's so cheesy, and stupid. It's highly entertaining for all the wrong reasons. I too have seen him interviewing and insulting people.

The televangeliest that was on ION at Midnight I'm talking about is a white guy and his first name was Paul and his last name was Keller or something like that, had his own show last year and it was him preaching and taking calls from viewers and he did nothing but begging the whole time he was on. Apparently he didn't go over very well because they brought back reruns of the late Gene Scott's preachings.

Wow, guess you guys have that show all turned around. Comfort doesn't insult people; he's just applying their own standards to them, with the intent of making them think. Their own words pass judgment on them. He then shows them the way out of their situation, but it's up to them to believe him or not.

He's laying the ol' fundie guilt trip on 'em. And he's not very good at it. He targets pretty stupid people. If he walked up to me; I'd have him stuttering and stammering. Of course; that footage would never make the "show"... Christian propaganda always works best on the people of lesser intelligence.

Ah yes, LivePrayer with Bill Keller

Yeah....well, when the checks keep bouncing.....ya know

Bill Keller has had quite a checkered past as well, going to prison for insider trading in the stock market. Also, he is one of those charlatan preachers who mail people all the time and asking them to send money to pay all of their bills and they will be healed. And if someone like Howard Stern is involved, then you really know that they aren't all that good. I am glad they took him off the air, but put in much worse.

Big words from someone who can't even use the quotes correctly. :D

You can call it whatever you want; I suppose you'd accuse Jesus of laying the ol' fundie guilt trip on 'em too. That's not bad company.

What I find refreshing about Comfort's show is that he attempts to reason with people, rather than shouting at them. I wish more Christian TV used that approach.

I call 'em as I see 'em, as always. :) He's a step above the guy selling viles of "Jesus Water" and miracle hankies, but just barely. I'm surprised no one's punched him out yet for being such a busybody. I wouldn't want anyone to do that because that's not a reasonable response to some dolt preaching; but some people really don't like being talked down to by some random Holier-Than-Thou stranger with a video camera. Me; I'd just ignore them and walk away.

And that would be your right to do so. No one appears in an interview on that show who doesn't first agree to be interviewed. And if you asked both Comfort and Cameron if those things applied to them before their conversion, I'm sure they would both admit that it was so. I can admit that for myself - I have to come to a realization that I fall short before I seek help, and that's all that this TV show is attempting to do: to get people to admit that they fall short so that they can seek help if they wish to.

As for someone taking a poke at him, I'll bet it's happened before. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you mad.

I find it funny that you accuse Comfort of being "holier-than-thou", and yet you have just passed judgment on him. Does that make you holier than him?
