Apparently back to Florida, I believe he said, where he hails from originally. I didn't know he was leaving either, just happened to flip through the channel at the right time.

Moving to Orlando. Says it's his decision, but he isn't going there for a TV job and isn't sure what he wants to do yet. Doesn't sound like something you would decide to do unless you were "encouraged" to leave.
Family... He wasn't forced out of 5. In fact, I'm pretty sure they'd rather he stayed.

Exactly. The last thing KOCO needs is more of the remaining familiar faces hitting the door.
Ha, I was amused to see that KFOR has abandoned their 4:00am newscast nonsense; good heavens, what overkill that was! I suppose I can live with 5:00, but even 6:00 would be more-reasonable to me. (BTW, my alarm goes off at 7:07, so I don't watch any of it anyway! Except on Saturday and Sunday mornings, when they start at 8:00).

Agreed. OKC is not a large enough market for a 4am newscast to make sense.
