Tennessee Patriot Network Launches In Western Tennessee

After stunting during the holidays as “Rudolph Radio“, Forever Communications has flipped Classic Country “Willie 94” 1390 WLLI Jackson/94.1 W231BU East Union TN to Conservative Talk “Tennessee Patriot Network“.

Forever also flipped 94.3 WZGY Dyer from a simulcast of Country “Froggy 99.3” WWGY Fulton KY back to a simulcast of 1390/94.1. The stations are sporting new WTJF and WTJF-FM call letters. 94.3 previously simulcasted 1390/94.1 as “Willie 94until February 2020.

Just what we (don't) need. The TJ Network is in effect returning and going more to sounding like they're going for the far right/conspiracy oriented Trump nuts. Forever can't make up their mind what they want to do with those stations, especially 94.3. Why don't they just sell them off?? Thanks again for nothing Forever!!! (n)

Who do you think lives there? Between 75-78% of their audience voted for DJT.

They make it sound like a big deal, but it's just another repeater for syndicated talkers:

The stations are featuring an all-syndicated lineup that features This Morning with Gordon Deal, Fox News Rundown, The Brian Kilmeade Show, The Glenn Beck Program, and The Mark Levin Show.

What format(s) would you consider for this station that would actually make money and get listenership? I assume liberal/left wing talk is not an option because most of the Biden "enlighteneds" are smart enough too not usually live in this area? :) (happy 2021 anotheguy - just having a little old school fun at your expense.)

No problem. I consider myself conservative but not to the extreme of Trump and his fanatical followers. My main problem is that there were too many FM news talk stations in the Jackson area before when Forever had the TJ network on the same frequencies and now they're doing it again. It's a waste of 3 frequencies in my view.

This Morning with Gordon Deal, Fox News Rundown, The Brian Kilmeade Show, The Glenn Beck Show, and The Mark Levin Show are some of the station's all-syndicated lineup.

You might recall that 1390 WTJS was News-Talk when owned by Clear Channel, and for some time after Forever bought them. That was several call sign and format changes ago. With 93.1 WTJS and 101.5 WNWS, Jackson now has three talk stations.

Which is too many for a city the size of Jackson, especially on FM. They really only need one at the most.

Are there any format holes in Jackson that need filling? For the purpose of this discussion, I am going to say that there are two news/talk stations in Jackson, because WTJS-AM is, well, it's AM! I'm 57, and part of probably the last generation that grew up listening to AM radio. And I am guessing that the two WTJS stations simulcast.

And the number of call-letter changes on some of these Forever stations is getting ridiculous!

WTJS is what is being used on 93.1 now and is owned by Grace. 1390 AM is now WTJF and is part of the "Patriot Network." And there is definitely a hole for classic country now, and there has been a hole for CHR, from the first time Forever tried to make these stations into a news/talk network. They may be formats that I don't listen to very often, but I'd think either of these would do better than news/talk.

I saw (on another thread here) that WJPJ of Humboldt has gone to "country hits of the '90s" or something like that. (The ones that I used to play back then!) I don't know if it has been long enough for '90s country to be considered "classic" yet, but that is about the closest that I have seen. It doesn't look like their signal is strong enough to be picked up over most of Jackson, maybe the north side of the city (three-way area), but that is about it.

Looking at radio-locator.com, one gap that I am somewhat surprised to see in the Jackson area (unless I missed it) is adult contemporary. They have hot AC, and even adult hits, but no AC that I saw. Don't know if radio-locator needs to be updated.

Let's put it this way: Those songs are 25 years old. They're too old to be considered "gold" for a currents based station. Are they classic? That's a matter of personal taste, but they're still very popular, and they're not getting airplay anywhere else.

Well, that will come in handy if I am ever PD of a country station (which seems unlikely), but is off-topic here.

WHHM’s been leaning back toward AC since they ended their yearly christmas format. I myself was surprised, they’ve been leaning hot AC since the 2010s. Jacksons needed a CHR for a long time now.

I'm not sure how long since this change happened, but WTJF has gone back to calling themselves the TJ Network. I don't know if there's any real change, but I figure they're still going for the far right audience and wasting an FM station and translator. (n)

Nightly dose of Levin's high pitched screech "Donald Trump is Jesus Christ himself and Joe Biden is senile and a pedo[hile and Congress needs to overthrow the 2020 election and install Trump as King!"
