The news bears some close watching. I had thought some time ago that Comcast buying up NBC was a hedge against any negative changes to the "dumb pipes" business. Add in all the government regulations imposed on them from the merger and they might start thinking of separating the media and cable delivery businesses, a-la Time Warner and Time Warner Cable.

Of course, Comcast is going to appeal. Stay tuned.
