Yeah, maybe talk show hosts and radio hosts will watch what they say from now on, but generally, the termination of Don Imus won't solve much. And the only other good thing out of this is the national dialogue on racism and sexism (which will hopefully continue).
But I think that a two week suspension without pay would have been appropriate. It would have given Imus time to really think about what he said and I think he should have had a second chance. He could have revamped his show, invite guests of all different races, backrounds, cultures, and colors, and continue to use his show as a platform for his charities. But NBC and CBS fell under the pressure of a couple so called reverends and public outcry and they got real scared when dollars began flying out the window. I don't necessarily blame them.
But his termination simply resulted in a few jobs lost, which is always a sad thing. That's not going to solve the racism and sexism problems in this country.
