Terre Haute Radio Changes

Does anybody know anything about the recent changes around Terre Haute? From what I heard, there were several people at various companies that were let go this week. Does anyone have confirmation and if so, what's going on?

I am only going to say that it's a tough time to be in the Haute market... Best wishes to those who are leaving us.

I've heard that Jamie Dawson from Mixx FM was let go, and at Crossroads I haven't heard afternoon drive, Matt Luking lately. I'm still hearing the morning guy Adam @ the B. One with reasonable knowledge of radio would think something going to bust open in Terre Haute at both Midwest and Crossroads.

Yes I did do my last show at B102.7 on Thursday. It was cool, and I am all good. I am celebrating my 3 year anniversary today at WZPL in Indy today where we are giving away Daughtry tickets. I have realized over my 13 years in radio, that sometimes formats change, and things change, and you have to roll with the punches. There are no hard feelings on either side, and I would be open to doing some part-time radio again in the Wabash Valley. It's always such a volatile situation to depend on the biz, so I am glad I never gave up any of my other ventures. I'll still be playing parties and weddings with my DJ company, doing the Indy radio gig, and being on the other side of the entertainment biz on the retail side in the Haute. I don't want to see any other Dj's that depend on the biz for their livelihood lose their gig in the Terre Haute market. I guess Kolene Kaye, Sketch Brumfield, and Jamie Dawson are also on the beach, as well as some weekenders from some different stations in the Wabash Valley. It's a different time for radio, but those of us that still love it will find an outlet to do what we do.

Matt,

There but for the grace of God go the rest of us. I certainly hope that when my time comes I can take it as well as you are now. Good luck.

There is a certain freedom that comes over you when you do radio part-time. I was talking about this with a former big city morning radio guy yesterday. When you have been on both sides of the spectrum, and you know how the business is, it certainly isn't surprising when you become part of a budget cutting move. I plan to keep sharp, do my show prep every day, and live an interesting life. I'll be ready to go if or when the time comes. If it doesn't you have to be at peace with what you have achieved, and move on to other ventures in your life. My old GM Bob Swanson used to always say the serenity prayer to me when times were tough, and I find it very useful years later. I certainly don't want to see anybody else lose their gig in this business, but if you can get in this frame of mind, and enjoy the ride while it lasts you will have much more inner-peace about the business of radio.

I'm hearing that Crock morning guy RJ was let go last week along with Matt and sales person Cliff Mackie. Web person Julie Latta and production guy Dusty both quit. And Matt, I to hate when someone loses their job in the business. But what really baffles me is to see those who's bad programming, and decisions caused ratings to decline, which then caused you and others to lose their jobs at Crossroads, but they keep theirs. Go figure?

Amen, brother.
