Terre Haute Stations Sales

I heard a rumor that Midwest is looking to load up on more stations. Rumor is that Crossroads is looking to unload WBOW FM/AM to Midwest. Anyone heard anything?

Maybe Duke Wright wants some of the action from Rice's former frequencies going up for FCC auction. Those three frequencies are currently silent.

Not the frequencies, the stations.

What's a station on? A frequency. I fail to see the difference.

AS, splitting hairs and/or kHZ.

From what I hear, 107.5 has been reclassified as non-commercial and won't be auctioned. Not sure about the AM's, though.

Ok. Welcome to Radio 101. A "frequency" is a position on a dial. Whereas a "station" consists of the call letters, the equipment, the staff, etc. Study up, there will be a quiz later.

So sad...I haven't been thru Terretucky since before the sale...but that 107.5 was one of the best "sounding" stations I have ever heard.

Me and a buddy listened to some crap ass GNR tune from the Spagetti Incident for about 25 minutes....song sucked...but it was so clean....processing was so awesome...I have yet to hear a station since (especially my own) that "sounded" that good! And now that its off...I have nothing to send my backroom geek to listen to

I never appreciated WZZQ's processing. I used to work there, in 92-94, and I thought we always sounded clipped at the edges and dead in the middle. Best thing you could say about us was that we were louder than everybody else. Maybe it got better after I left town.

Yes, but the FCC auctions the frequency off, not the station. If I was competing for Rice's leftovers (sans 107.5fm), I'd be bidding for the FCC license. Not the station (studio equipment, transmitter, tower space, or staff.)

Let's agree that a license is for a radio frequency, whether AM or FM.

As I said in my prior post, I wonder if Midwest's Duke Wright wants some of the action from Rice's former frequencies going up for FCC auction.

Alright. So you're wondering about Mike Rice's former stations--107.5 and whatever the AM stations were. At least we can agree on that much. What I'm wondering about is that there has been a buzz lately that B102.7 (the current WBOW) and WBOW AM (which is now ESPN Radio) have been sold. Does anyone know anything about that?
