Give it a year and see how it goes. If they do I'll give up my XM radio subscription!

Milo correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember WAXI using Scott Shannon at one point? I could be thinking of something else but 2004 or 2005-ish... I thought they had his network all day except fro Ron Mot in the morning. Could be wrong like I said.
 
You are correct. Ronn in mornings and Bryan Thomas afternoon drive. True oldies ran till Ronn got fired for playing a George Strait song to recognize his birthday. BT moved to mornings and true oldies was dropped & programing was done in house. WAXI never came close to what wisdom 98 wsdm did when they were using abc's pure gold. It was a fun place to be till the crock hatched. Bryan had a great idea till his vision was taken over & certain people added there two cents and completely changed it. The only good thing was the billboards teasing the public with the bite me slogans. And right after a tremendous launch, and it just died a long expensive death.
 
Crossroads held onto Crock for about 5-6 years... about 3-4 too long from what everyone has said. What would have made that format work long term?
 
Revenue would have made the Crock work. The ratings were OK for the whole time the Crock existed. The music mix was OK, and the imaging was well-produced but poorly written. Holding on to their talent wouldn't have hurt.

I bet Crossroads would love to have a 2.5 or 3.0 on WSDM now!

I agree with that. A good book is nice but if your selling the heck out of it.... Even the crock didn't have the ratings that WSDM had when they were 97.7 playing oldies. I'm guessing CR is ok with what ESPN did on 92.7 in the latest book. Their happy saving money not paying music licensing fees.
 
ESPN on 92.7 really was a pretty good move. As much as I hate the format myself, it's one of the few formats you can sell without numbers. It's also one of two formats (the other being all news) that's at or near a 2:1 power ratio nationwide.
 
So what happens to CR now? They have horrible ratings, no leadership, and I would assume the same degree of professionalism is in the sales department. Do they not see the hand scribbles on the wall? I know the stations are for sale and they are desperately lookig for somebody stupid enough to buy them from Dan Lacy. He might have a chance to sell at some degree of profit if he'd spend some money and get the stations back on track. Unfortunately we know that will never happen.
 
You know they're for sale? Last I checked so was every other station in Terre Haute... no such thing as a station that isn't for sale. You just have to find someone willing to pay the asking price. And not to be taking any sides I can tell from the constant criticisms of Crossroads, on the boards and from people that I know in Terre Haute, there isn't a lot they do well... but I can promise from personal experience there is worse out there. We all have a horror story to some degree of working for "That Company" that couldn't get out of its own way. You know maybe that would be a fun thread... Tell us that radio horror story (or maybe tragic comedy).
 
Emmis and Midwest haven't announced that they were looking for a buyer. Crossroads has. I think 2006 was the year. Whether they're still looking for a buyer is a question to ponder.
 
I would say that every radio station in the country is for sale! It's not if a station is for sale but how much it will cost to buy it. The problem with CR is they don't have anything to sell but the license. They basically have no ratings, no management in place, no glimmer of hope on the horizon for profit, and no tire kickers. There may be a buzzard or two circling the wagons looking for a real deal and if Ed has any potential buyers they will be low ball offers. CR and most stations in their position need to do whatever they can to get their act together and increase ratings and needless to say revenues. Midwest and Emmis both have numbers, staffs, and visibility in the market.
 
CR hires Kyle West for morning drive on wbow 102.7. Good move but after listening I'm guessing he's voicetracking, which isn't. Wish you well KW.

Wow, really? I though Midwest made all their jocks sign non competes.

If he really jumped across town what does that say about the hallways at Midwest? I think he was the last remaining jock from the Bright Tower Days (at least on Mix, I haven't kept up with 95.9). No way Crossroads could have given him more money.

Maybe Crossroads is planning on making another format "tweak" on 102.7. They have Julie, now Kyle. Maybe another popular old Mix jock could return and make things interesting.

In other news, Hi-99 is still number one. By a lot.
 
It might be time for a format change at CR. Seems they kind of make those changes from time to time. Not sure if that is an attempt to increase ratings or just another firing of a shotgun blast to try and find something that works.

Terre Haute is too small of a market for stations to have non-compete clauses. Terre Haute is a small market...a place to pay your dues on your way up to a larger market. That is, if you have any self-motivation at all.
 
So the idea here seems to be to move a few people around and expect a giant light in the sky! Wow, I wonder if that works in the real world. Dan Lacy and his merry men of dumb should wake up and smell the roses. There is help if they are willing to open their eyes and take notice.
 
So some stations have already begun flipping to all Christmas music around the country... any takers here?
