TERRY GILBERT, LOU PATE, SUB SCHEDULE OVER CHRISTMAS?

I really enjoy Lou Pate and Terry Gilbert. They are tremendous talent and I think should be full time.

Anyone know when they will be Substituting over Christmas break & New Years?

For example, Terry was on KFYI 550 this afternoon (24th).

Well I don't know about anyone else, but I love Terry Gilbrerg, although at times she does get a little "crazy" or talkative during the caller's time, and sometimes needs an explanation or doesn't understand some things that seemed to be already clear from the get go. There are many times callers call in, and she has to ask "what do you mean by...." and I'm thinking "What do you mean explain? What the caller said was already as clear as a windexed glass container, filled with colorless windex!"

It also happened to me when I called in once, when I explained my saying:
"If you don't like the stereotype, then stop doing the thing that creates the stereotype".

She was like "Explain... what do you mean "stop doing the thing.....etc?"" I was wondering how much clearer could I make it? If you're tired of being labeled / profiled / stereotyped as..... whatever, then stop doing whatever is causing people to believe certain things about certain people! It's plain and simple to me! Don't do dumb things, create all sorts of unnecessary trouble, then get upset when other people begin to talk about it, try to distance themselves, or REACT to the situation YOU (meaning the person / people who are causing the trouble in whatever situation) are creating.

I cannot see what's so difficult to understand about this,, and I mean from anyone's point of view (not in regards to what I was saying about Terry Gilberg's need for extra explanation on my quote earlier). It's just plain common sense. If you create problems TODAY, then don't blame anyone else or anything that happened BEFORE you were born when the reactions and consequences to your behavior start to show.

Geez.... Here I go again trying to preach common sense. Let me stop before I get started again. August - December, I've done a good job at shutting up, so let me not even start now, or else next thing you know I'll be calling people who think it's a bright idea to blow up a plane because they are upset... or people who cannot understand that locking your kid in a car when it's below 20 outside because they want to shop is just as bad as doing it in the middle of the summer, all sorts of names.....

Well, we are discussing talk radio, so I do somewhat have an excuse to preach some common sense and logic and bring up certain issues here, at least this one time. In addition to that, it was all somewhat related.

Define sappy. I heard the last hour of her 12/24 show (I had to flee KTAR's holiday filler and that's where I fled to), when she was reading some 'inspirational' Christmas letter, and for what it was, I thought it was good radio.

Yeah, I heard that and I liked it too, indieradioguy. When she came back from her uncle's funeral in the midwest, the health care debate and all that was going on.When her program started, She said she was going to get personal and I should have changed it then. She said she sat by her dad's resting place (he was buried in the same cemetery) and cried and asked him what was happening to the world (I'm paraphrasing this-I could be way off) that he had fought hard to protect and she wished she could get some kind of sign from him (or maybe she was talking about God by then) about what direction to take. She was grief stricken and I felt badly for her, I've lost a lot of family and friends. I'm not averse to talk about God, I have a friend who has a 30 min daily broadcast on 1350 that I listen to. It just seemed overly emotional, self-indulgent catharsis (which a person is certainly entitled to-I just meant I don't want to listen to it). She's gone into depth about trips she's made for the purpose of spiritual healing like Lourdes and homes of Saints and that's fine, it just seemed oozy to me, it lasted too long to hold my interest, and I changed it. I'm sure it's a Patti problem and not a Terry problem. I cut my teeth (almost literally) on a Silvertone radio blasting Joe Pyne to my dad's ears . I like Terry, she has some great guests.
