It is with great sadness that I post this. My good friend Terry Mason passed away yesterday (December 22). The cause is not immediately known.
Terry was most recently morning co-host of KKAR-AM, 1290, Omaha. He had been program director for WRN's oldies format. Terry formerly worked at other stations in Omaha and Orlando. He was perhaps best known a the long-time morning host on legendary KOIL -- also 1290 Omaha.
A number of tributes have already been posted on the Nebraska media discussion board. I'm not sure if it's a violation of Radio-Info's rules to post a link to that site. KKAR's Neil Nelkin posted the following on the Nebraska board:
Terry Mason Tribute

It is truly gratifying to see how many people Terry has touched, helped, mentored, comforted and laughed with along the way. We are planning a celebration of and for Terry on the 1290 frequency on Tuesday morning from 8:00am to 9:00am (Central). We hope that everyone who has worked with Terry through the years will be able to call in and contribute. If you know of people around the country, please contact them and ask them to call. Please post this on any message boards that may reach Terry's friends and co-workers. If you are in Omaha and can make it in, please come to the studio. If not, please call (402) 342-1290. Clay Michaels and Steve Brown will be the hosts.
