Terry Sheridan Bolts WINS For WEMP

This would seem to be an indication that WEMP will stay all-news, or that news will at least remain a major part of the station's programming.

Terry Sheridan will be joining other former WINS colleagues at FM News. I'm not surprised news will remain a major part of 101.9's programming, but is Merlin still thinking they'll make a dent vs WINS and WCBS-AM with all-news? Or is this a move towards building a local news operation around eventual talk programming? Stay tuned! ???

Career Suicide move there

I have to agree at this point. Even after a week when I let them know via their feedback form that they have erroneous time checks airing at 5:18am it's still happening. They obviously care little about their air product.

Let's say, on day one Terry fixes the 5:18am time check. :)

Then say he goes on to fix some of the other stuff that's wrong with the air product ... like dumping the reverb and the annoying drum loops. Now what? 101.9 is still in the shadow of two all-news giants that have been getting the job done for decades.

And, by the way, do you think they could come up with something a little more compelling than "101.9 FM NEWS" to attract listeners? FM news ... Wow! Gotta get me some 'a that! ;)

I don't know... maybe [urlhttp://www.radio-info.com/ticker_items/nys-wemp-to-freshen-taxis]this[/url] could be compelling to potential 101.9 listeners? ::)

Tuned in again early this morning to hear the screwed up 8:23 time check play at 5:18. Face it, these guys have no clue if they don't even listen to their on-air product. Gawd, how bad can it get before somebody with a brain there takes notice?

I feel sorry for Mr. Sheridan and any of them who jumped ship to go work at 101.9. They'd probably be better off going back to the Disco 102 format from the late 70's at this point.
