Is Terry Young still on Real Country 105.3? He just started with the station in November, and I noticed the station this afternoon (Fri 4/10) is jockless.
Maybe the Terry Young gig didn't work out. But I don't understand the comment about A.J. Davis. Is he no longer with the station? If so, that decision would be way too hasty. It would be great if posters who listen to Jax radio or who are indirectly/directly involved in the business can return to reporting on the board again about what is going on in Jax radio. No one seems to want to contribute anymore. A shame and an even bigger shame if A.J. is once again on the beach. What a place...<shaking my head>
JohnJax, I believe Terry Young was let go several weeks ago. As for A.J., he was let go on January 17th, 2014, without any comment or reason from the owner! His head is still spinning! While the Real Country concept is a good one, and under the right stewardship could succeed, it appears there are serious financial and logistical issues that may doom the effort. For instance, the studio is still based in Kingsland, GA., and to the best of my knowledge, there has never been a "real" Jacksonville based sales force. Plus, the signal, while very good in certain parts of Jax, is marginal in some important areas of the Southern Metro. And now, with only Boomer in the Morning, and a few hours of a part time jock in Middays, the continuity and personality of the station is choppy, at best! I do wish those who are still there all the best!
