Tex and Larry on WJRR

I don't think they fit the station or market. This market needs somethng more fast paced and energy driven.

Any chance the BS could surface into mornings on here in 6 months?

"Tex and Larry"?

That's why you shouldn't over-rely on spell-check, ladies and gentlemen. ;D

I think, while I love the city of Dallas, I don't wanna hear about it every morning I wake up in Orlando. Plus, these guys aren't that entertaining. I listened to it off and on while they were on TKS, and only ever heard one segement that was actually funny.

good point, and while i love tampa, I live in jacksonville, and hear very little from bubba about jax..........so much for local and live.....live yes, local for those in the flagship market

While they may talk about Dallas more since they live there now, they are transplants from Jacksonville. They are not as entertaining now as they were 7-8 years ago, they're still better than anything I heard in Orlando in the 5 years I was there (1999-2004). Orlando radio is the reason I became a sports talk listener.

I'm sure they were really good at one point or another, I don't doubt that. You can't be syndicated to the level they are or have the success they have had without at least SOMETHING to back it up. In my opinion, the Monsters were the best show on the radio back in the late 90's until about 2001. You will hear alot of people talking about how great Philips was back in the day. Sooner or later, everyone loses their touch, the thing that makes them the best. It's never easy to keep up something day in and day out for years and remain the best.

And in radio today, not only is time an enemy, but so is the state of the industry, for several reasons that people are more than aware of. I'm sure that one thing holding alot of shows back now is the stricter guidelines that exist today. At least, that is how I view it.

I tried to listen to tex and larry and had to dump out......booooorrrring. How is it that guys like this and guys like don imus and dan sileo keep getting jobs while so many radio professionals can't find work.....it floors me.

CC saves money by having 2 losers do a morning drive that they can simulcast to most of their stations, instead of hiring good local talent. 98rock is about to go out of business cause DoubleDown and Hardin dont know how to bring up the ratings...they are stuck in the mid 90s. At least JRR has Hard on Sat nights and play more of a variety of harder music mixed in....but still the cheese has to go or JRR will sink..especially with Lex and Terry crap now.

Does anyone els noticed that they have allot of pause while they talk like they have no idea what they going to say next..Also it seems like they have no chemistry together...

No chemistry????? Dude are you new to radio???? Lex and Terry have been mainstays in this business for almost 15 solid years. Like 'em or not, they have chemistry, a terrific business/syndication model and know the business better than most klondikes.

Your view and perception are different because they are new to your market and you may not know their history and past successes. Will they flourish in O-Town? Who knows and by the responses here many don't really care. It's a business decision CC/orlando has made, like it or not.

They are proven, they don't win in every markets, but are a solid team and unlike most shows, these two like each other very much.

What's with the farting contests??? Havn't these guys ever heard of "the breakfast rule". It's soooooooo incredibly lame. You'd have to be 13 to find this even remotely funny. The show has no show prep whatsoever. The news is taken straight from Drudgereport.com and the sports segment is waaaaay to long and completely lacks any originality whatsoever.

I used to actually like this show, and listened to it everyday... until I discovered that you could stop listening for a month and not miss a damn thing! They NEVER have any interesting guests on the show. They throw the word "bitch" around in a way that is incredibly irresponsible and offensive. I can't listen with my family in the car and can't imagine how anybody else could.

The last thing about this show that really irks me is how listeners call in with the catchphrase "GIVERS..." to which Tex and Larry are supposed to reply in unison with "US". Well they almost never hit it together... furthering the perception that they lack chemistry.

Clearly the guys have experienced some success and I say, good for them, but it's a shame that this show is considered a suitable replacement for local talent. Obviously they are on for one reason and one reason only... to cut cost... and that's one of the reasons why radio kinda sucks sometimes.

Okay... I'm done with my rant.

I believe Linda Bird (VP for CC Orlando) is president of the Tex and Larry network. She's paying herself for mornings.

Who are Rex & Carey????

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

That sounds like something that should be on 107.7 in the mornings...

I personally think that "Tex & Larry" sounds better than "Lex & Terry"....

However, THE FIASCO is better than ALL OF THEM!!!!!!

After reading these posts, I'm starting to wonder if Lex and Terry's sophomoric humor is too advanced for some of you. Tex and Larry? Rex and Carry? Are you guys in the fifth grade? It's almost funny that the posts bashing them are actually more immature than the show itself.

Sorry man. I forgot how legendary Lex & Terry are. I am sure that my fellow posters will agree that we are way out of our league if we bash the "universal" Lex & Terry...WHAT THE HELL WERE WE THINKING!!!!!!...I mean these guys are LEGENDS that NOBODY should be making fun of. Just go to your library and find a picture of the infamous Boston Tea Party. If you look up in one of the ships, you will see aour heroes up there, broadcasting live in all of their glory. I almost forgot that the great Lex & Terry had a hand in writing the US Constitution. If you look really closely at JFK's Inaugaration video, guess who are in the background with their mic's ready.....you guessed it, the legendary Lex & Terry....

Everybody knows that it was absolutely AWFUL when Lennon got shot. Everybody is also under the impression that Howard Cosell was the first broadcaster to announce it, however, we here at radio-info.com know that it was really "Lex & Terry" that first let the public know about it. It was also the great "Lex & Terry" that were responsible for an Arkansas governor becoming president in the 90's....

Everybody also knows that it was "Lex & Terry" who announced the hideout of Hitler during WWII. Legend has it that right before Hitler killed himself, he muttered something about Lex & Terry before he died....

I guess that we all forgot how great Lex & Terry are...
