Texans game on KTVT

Why is it that we never get the Texans games in Dallas? Way to get viewers KTVT!!!

If you have a good VHF antenna pointed north toward their transmitter in Madill, you can watch the Texans game on KXII channel 12. It has a very strong signal throughout Collin County and is quite good down to the Bush Turnpike.

I'm flipping between the Steelers-Ravens and Texans-Colts game.

Common complaint, but always misdirected. The affiliates don't get to choose which game they see. Gripe to CBS about that.

Although the networks initially assign the games, affiliates can request a change.

KTVT is often the only Texas CBS affiliate to NOT carry Texans games. Odd, since the Cowboys are always on FOX in Houston unless the game is on at the same time as a Texans home game, in which the Texans have exclusivity.

DFW viewers missed the Texans huge win over the Colts, while the Cowboys gagged one up to the Jets.

There are more Cowboys fans in Houston than Texans fans in DFW. This goes back to the old Oilers days when the Cowboys were always shown in Houston and the Oilers were (almost) never shown in DFW. And remember, Houston went without an NFL team for 5 years. A few ex-Oilers fans stayed loyal to the Titans, but the Cowboys became the default NFL team in Houston during that time.

I am curious how these intrastate rivalries are handled in other states. Are the Eagles and Steelers routinely shown in Pittsburgh and Philly? Are the Bills seen in NYC? How about Miami games in Tampa Bay and Jacksonville, and vice versa? Are the Chiefs seen in St. Louis and the Rams in KC?

I think Houston will be getting The Saints-Bears Game in New Orleans because there are a lot of Saints fans from New Orleans out there who calls Houston home. And The Cowboys won't be seen in Houston because The Texans are in Miami with the window of exclusivity, although it's also CBS' DH week. The Texans will meet up to play New Orleans in The Superdome Next Sunday.

Broadcast exclusivity only applies to televised HOME games. The Texans are on the road.

The Houston FOX station has obviously decided that the Saints game in the earlier time slot is a better ratings draw than having the Cowboys opposite the Texans. Somewhat surprising, as KRIV usually always shows the Cowboys, unless there is a conflict with a Texans home game (the exclusive window.)

I'm chuckling over any Cowboys fans in Houston getting a taste of their own medicine, as KTVT won't air a Texans game unless they are dragged kicking and screaming into doing so.
