Texans-Ravens on WCBS 880

I heard Mike Francesa say this morning due to Giants obligations the game will air in it's entirety on WCBS 880.

Interesting, I thought 1130 would usually air games when these conflicts arise on WFAN.

Heard a promo on WFAN as soon as Saturday afternoon promoting Ravens/Texans at 1 PM "followed by the Giants and Packers". The promo didn't say it, but a host alluded to the fact that the Giants pre-game would start at 3 PM or so.

If the game was carried by WCBS, then the part of the promo that says "hear every play of the NFL postseason" rings true (it's just not on WFAN on this day).

In NY, WFAN as the Giants' flagship had exclusive rights to the game. With the Giants having now moved on to the NFC Championship Game, will WCBS 880 carry the AFC Championship Game (Ravens-Patriots) in its entirety? ???

Why does anybody care about any of this? Does anybody really think that someone who wants to listen to any of these games on the radio will have a hard time finding it?

True, Harry. And on Saturday, adding to what D To The J points out, WFAN was trying to spin off as many directions as they could without mentioning any call letters!

Instead, their 20-20 guy was directing anyone who cared to 'Eleven-three-oh', or '970 AM' or simply '880'.

I don't know what WFAN's reluctance was in generalizing like that. No one in New York City would know the calls 'WEPN' if the station clotheslined him. But WFAN insisted on giving just the frequencies and the dial, not the calls or any positioners.

On at least one occaision, WFAN did mention that they would carry Texans-Ravens until the Giants pre-game show at 3:10, full coverage on "our sister station WCBS Newsradio 880." Basically, the first half and part of the 3rd qtr was simulcast on WFAN and WCBS.

If Texans-Ravens were being carried on a station outside the CBS New York cluster, they would've ID'd the station as 1130 AM or 970 AM. :)

When the Yankees played the Phillies in the World Series, the game was heard on 880, 1050, 1040 in the NYC market and 1210, 97.5 in the Philly market.

Since the Giants are in the playoffs, do both the Giants affiliate and the station that airs all postseason NFL games air the same game?

Normally one of them should have exclusivity.

WNJE 1040 is the station, KML.

They're licensed to Flemington NJ. Not only are they real listenable here in the day, but I picked them up on the car radio in Sunbury PA -- OUTSIDE the blue line that's supposed to halt their signal.

They seem to simulcast 1050 all the time. You only hear WNJE identify at the top of each hour.

At night, WNJE is gone. They pull in their signal toward the venerable WHO in Iowa on 1040. I get 1050 WEPN at night instead.
