Texas A.P. Broadcasters Radio Contest Winners

Submitted for your consideration: http://www.tapb.org/?q=node/107

Only one Houston station picked up any awards, and it wasn't KTRH. Also note the instances of "No HM (honorable mentions)" and worse yet, "No entries" (e.g., for investigative reporting).

My hat comes off for my former colleagues at KUHF Houston Public Radio. Those young and "experienced " broadcast journalists are the finest people I ever had the privilege of working with.

Salud !!

It won't be full time news, but they will be doing a lot more of it. My understanding is that there will be more local news segments during Morning Edition and All Things Considered, and more local newscasts during the daytime NPR programs.

It's probable that they will finally start carrying ATC at its actual start time of 3pm instead of at 4pm, as it has always done. For as long as anyone can remember, KUHF has joined ATC at 4pm, which is ATC's second hour. Now maybe they'll start it with the first hour and carry it through 6pm. Maybe. Who knows?

I've also heard there are plans for a half hour local and state news cast at 6pm. Of course this all depends on the FCC approving the KTRU deal, which my sources say is expected some time next month. We shall see.
