TEXAS and more heard in New York

Another nice FM E-Skip opening here in the Hudson Valley Tuesday morning, with 12 new stations logged, from Illinois to Texas. Five new Texas were heard between 11:30am and 12:40pm EDT, all from the Dallas area, including:

KLUV-98.7 Dallas “K-Love”
KUZN-105.9 Centerville “Your Country Cousin”
KEOM-88.5 Mesquite “Texas State Network”
KLLI-105.3 Dallas “Live 105.3”
KDXM-102.9 Dallas “Mix 102.9”

Other previous logged Texas were also noted, including..

KAFX-95.5 Diboll “K-Fox”
KTUX-98.9 Carthage “99-X’. This was my first TX in 2003 and it is probably my most common, often blasting through on what is a nice clear frequency here.
KYKX-105.7 Longview (country)
KRNB-105.7 Decatur (hip hop /soul)
KESS-107.9 Lewisville “La Que Buena”

Then Wednesday morning, I caught KMAD-102.5 Whitesboro. “Mad Rock” for Texas #24 since May 2003. This has been a terrific year for Texas, as in the past two months, I’ve logged 17 new Texas FM’s, compared to 2 in the entire 2005 DX season.
Check my website http://hometown.aol.com/dx1ng/ for more details about my latest loggings.

Any luck getting any stations from South texas? Victoria or Corpus Houston or San antonio,, Austin? I live close to Austin I have been getting lots of skips from Florida to Los Vegas, I havnt been able to get any skips here late though.

"KDXM" above is simply a typo. I guess I had "DX" on my mind. Anyway I got the KDMX calls correct in my log book.

There is a geometic limit of approx 1500 miles for FM skip, and that's with a higher than average E-cloud and absolutely no horizon blockage at either the transmitting or receiving end. Beyond 1500 miles, you need some exotic propagation mode, such as "double hop".

South Texas is just a bit too far from my location. My best is KKRW-93.7 Houston at 1470 miles, although in the skip opening at the beginning of this thread I might have had KBGO-95.7 from Waco, TX... but I didn't catch enough to be sure. KBGO is 1467 miles from me.

No significant skip noted here on over a week. It would be nice to get some kind of opening this weekend.
