Texas At Michigan

People ask me why do I love sports on TV, and this game today is the PERFECT example. I woke up to watch College Game Day and wasn't disappointed. Desmond Howard was all about big blue. They now have Nick Saban on the team, and he brings a lot of recent experience, getting his tail kicked by Texas. Pat McAfee is completely nuts, and switched his pick from Texas to Michigan because everybody in town has an M tattoo'd somewhere on their body. On cue, guest picker Michael Phelps showed his M tattoo on his hip. Lee Corso's headgear was for Texas.

Then I switched to Fox for the game, and there was Matthew McConoughey representing Texas, and former Wolverines stars Charles Woodson and Chris Webber appearing on the show as well as Michigan fan and Yankees legend Derek Jeter.

What could be better? I don't even have a dog in the fight, but I love the passion. Great TV.

At halftime, Matthew sounds like he's been working in TV his whole life. Then they toss it to Tom Brady, a Michigan alum, who is getting set for his NFL analyst debut with Dallas at Cleveland. He sounds good. He's saying more today than I've heard him say during his career as a player. If I was a performance coach, I'd advise Tom to keep his head steady. All that head movement is bad for TV. But his delivery was solid.

Unfortunately, Michigan isn't holding up its end of the bargain. Texas owns them right now.

They lost their coach, their QB, and a lot of the players that won them a championship. I expected more, but they're doing what Corso predicted.

And then there is Notre Dame.
Notre Dame was 28 point favourites yesterday. The Vegas Books whiffed on that one. The Irish also paid Northern Illinois a ton of money to come to South Bend. Ouch.!

Tom Brady should do well as a broadcaster. He obviously knows the game. The problem I have with Sports TV coverage is the hype. EVERY GAME is the biggest one of season. Does anyone remember Week 3 games from last year? Sound of Crickets...😑

Knowing the game and being able to explain it to a TV audience are vastly different. Time will tell how good of a broadcaster he will be.

A fraud again. There always seems to be a ridiculous early season loss or two that effectively renders the rest of their season meaningless. Do the ND wannabes across the nation still watch their games on NBC or Peacock after those first or second week embarrassments.

Speaking of Peacock, I was poking through its lineup of Saturday's games and was confused by the presence of Oregon-Boise State. I eventually remembered that Oregon was now in the Big Ten. Excellent game, probably the best of the day, at least among those I managed to catch.

At least that big clown Brian Kelly isn’t there any more, but I still hate Notre Dame. They need to pick a conference already!
