"Texas Mix 105.3" KTWL to be sold

I suppose this will come as a surprise to some, and perhaps even cause some stress for others, but you won't have to worry about K287BQ in Houston interfering with KTWL in Hempstead anymore, given the on-air programming from each one will likely be the same.

Well that makes sense why KTWL wasn’t taking complaints, or at least ignoring them. Looks like a win for both sides, one gets paid For license, the other gets a great signal.

Wouldn't shock me in the least for KXXF to be next.

Says 2 million, 1 million cash and million in Promissory Notes.

What are promissory Notes??

It means the seller is financing the deal. The buyer promises to make payments on a schedule to the seller; if the buyer defaults the seller gets the station back.

Sounds like SDk Franco "Buyer" is putting 1million down and possibly making payments on the remaining 1million to "seller" Roy Henderson. Roy Henderson has done millions of dollars of deals and again he reminds us Radio is not dead. KTWL 105.3fm will basically be a full power station in the #6 Market with K287BQ 105.3 fm down town Houston. Not such a "worthless " station anymore. I hope to see a true format and not a musical chair station.

Roy Henderson. Roy Henderson has done millions of dollars of deals and again he reminds us Radio is not dead.
It's dead, Jim.

They massively overpaid for that station. All this deal tells you is that Roy is a very skilled negotiator.

Having said that, how does the former wife of a pastor have a million dollars laying around??? How much do pastors get paid??? ****, I went I to the wrong field!

Well now you’re on to something interesting, is KXXF even on the market?
I think it was. But with KAMA right smack in the middle of Houston, buying up the 105.3 dial is useless. At best, you can probably move in as close as KJOJ.

Having said that, it makes no financial sense to do that. The last rimshots sold went for about 5 million each (KFNC and KHJK). Today, I'd say you can probably find them for less than that.

BamaTX , let me put my two cents: KTWL it was worth maybe 500k without the translator. KTWL had shutdown K287BQ on numerous occasions. Roy had the fcc pulled that license from Hector. It was inevitable for this to happen. If Joe Blow was to purchased KTWL for 2million it was overpaid especially for a station with no billing.

Doesn't matter. The translator alone isn't worth $2 million. The coverage is not going to "legally" improve just because you purchase one station in the same frequency. All it would take for the complaints to come back is for someone looking for a hobby to apply for a LPFM. (mhhhh.....?).

The new owners struck a horrible deal. Probably the worst deal in radio I've seen in the region.

Translators near Houston "near" are going for 1.3 million even more. Am stations with no billing are going for over 2 million. Must be some back deals we don't see just yet. Translator in the Houston market are leasing for 30-55k a month .

Why, yes. Yes, it is.

Here's the thing, this eliminates the interference complaints. Gives them a full C3 signal, which can be fitted with HD equipment. That's rent space for a Radio Dabang or Radio Vida on the HD2 and HD3.

As for a future purchase of KXXF, IMO, it's not a matter of if, but when.

BamaTX, true ministers of God, called specifically by Him, don't "rake it in" like that. Let them enjoy all of the wealth now, as there will be a needle's eye requiring their passage in the future.

Speaking of 105.3, I happened to catch a TOH ID early this evening...gave KLVL 1480 and K235CS 94.9...and......1300 KHTW "Lumberton-Beaumont-Houston." Checked 1300 but only heard an extremely weak sports station fading in and out (probably KAKC and not KVET.) So no idea if KHTW is back on the air with Radio Vida.

Back to KTWL: At least Henderson got some $$$ for throwing in the towel. Have my doubts Radio Vida is "permanent" on 105.3, but who knows. Seems strange they are still on 92.5 which has similar coverage to the 105.3 translator. I would think some further changes are in store...

I’ve heard the sports faintly on 1300 over the past few months, usually KVET. KAKC usually doesn’t reach this far south. Perhaps some day, KHTW will actually broadcast over the air, rather than pretending to be and just streaming.

Regarding KXXF, it is currently playing classic hits, and has a decent playlist compared to KCOL. Perhaps someone will purchase it from Walton’s family and enhance what is already doing rather than putting crap on that frequency.
