KTXN has been on-the-air for quite some time. It ran easy listening "K-Texan" for a number of years as well as soft AC, satellite oldies and satellite Spanish-language programming with possible other formats as well as several silent periods in between. I believe it was 1997 or '98 when the Texas Radio format came on-air.

AP has a story about a guitar auctioned off to raise money for Steve Coffman's medical bills. It indicates he's being treated for cancer. This is the first I've heard of this. Steve is a great guy. He's run KTXN on an LMA for the past 7 or 8 years. He's been dedicated to Texas music since his days in Dallas and San Antonio. Don't know what the details are; Haven't spoken with Steve in years, but if you see him, tell him prayers are with him, and GET WELL SOON!

Texas Radio 98.7 signed on June 30 1999. The Coff is doing well, thanks for the kind words.
