I am very upset with KILT for the drastic change to the Texas Roadhouse that had run for 5 hours on Sunday night with Leslie T. Travis. This was the only show on the radio that I regularly listen to and make a point of tuning in to catch at least some of it. There is precious little other outlet for "Texas Music" on the dial here in Houston besides the Texas Roadhouse and sometimes on KPFT. While Rowdy Yates and his Country Gold Show are fine (which replaced the Sunday Texas Roadhouse), the "Gold" duplicates what is already available on Country Legends 97.1..although the Country gold show is vastly superior to 97.1 since Rowdy does a great job and it outperforms having no disc jockey and no information about the songs or connections to the listeners. However, the Texas roadhouse did not need to be sacrificed. I see on the KILT web site that the Texas Roadhouse has been moved to Saturday night and compressed from 5 hours to 2 hours, now 10 to Midnight and that Steve Rixx is now hosting instead of Leslie T. Travis. There is no one in Houston radio more knowledgeable about Texas Music than Leslie T. Travis, however, and her style of mixing in inside information about the bands with requests from callers during the Texas Roadhouse will be sorely missed. I read on Leslie T.'s blogs that she had no role in this, this was all management decision, and that she was surprised. http://leslietstexas.blogspot.com/
I am very disappointed with KILT for this decision in not retaining Leslie T to handle the Roadhouse and reducing it down to 2 hours from 5.
I did not hear the new show this weekend on Saturday as I had no idea that the switch had occurred until I tuned in Sunday and heard Rowdy Yates in the Sunday evening time slot. I do wish Rowdy success in his new time slot but lament the cost in losing the full Texas Roadhouse.
