Texas Thunder Radio still playing Christmas music

I still hear Texas Thunder Radio slip in a Christmas song late at night sometimes, kind of funny hearing Frosty the snow man at 1am in January.

Thanks for the info Kevan -- I didn't know that the Hallettsville and Yoakum stations were using that slogan -- I think it was Roy Henderson who came up with a part-hot country, part-classic rock format called Texas Thunder back in the day -- not sure if the Hallettsville and Yoakum stations are actually mixing rock and country these days since another company owns those two stations now.

That was KCDQ 102.1. Of course, it was the heritage CHR "K-West" for most of the 80's until becoming AC "Magic 102" KMGP. It switched in the early 90's to classic rock KCDQ "CD-102" and started adding country to the mix a couple years later. I don't think that experiment lasted very long, and it went back to classic rock.

Way back when, KYKM use to play country music, and they even did live Houston Oiler games, Then when 99.9 came along they muli cast 4 stations 92.5, 97.7, 99.9, 104.7 (97.7 was KVCQ at the time) If I remember, that was when they did the classic rock and country mix. I believe 94.1 was also on the air simulcasting it.

Now they are 99.9, 92.5 playing country and polka mid-day, they have dj's locally. I'd almost rather listen to them then KASE or KVET.

Kind of a history lesson I couldn't type all of that on my phone.
