Thaddeus Mathews = Class Act

Ahem. Not to defend Thaddeus, but Charlotte Bergmann, despite the Swedish name, is African-American. She is the one that has the billboard up stating that MLK was a Republican.

The billboard can be seen eastbound on I-240 between Lamar and Getwell.

"Get your stupid, ignorant [bleep] out of my studio," said Thad to a white, female Congressional candidate on his WPLX show yesterday. "And take your whiteness with you."

No, she was black, but I think ole Thaddeus is losing his eyesight. I know way back when I was teaching Thaddeus how to run a board like I did Dees, even then he was quite a character. Yes siree, quite a character. Thaddeus always told me he was going to be the Paul Harvey of the Hood, being kind to people and telling quaint stories. Yep, I guess you've attained all that and then some, Thaddeus. And that's the "Rest of the Story".."Good Day"..

So much for the President's plea for more civility......

From BreitBart:
Memphis talk radio host Thaddeus Matthews insulted and humiliated Republican congressional candidate Charlotte Bergmann during a recent interview. He ended the interview by saying, "get your stupid, ignorant ass up out of my studio." As Bergmann was leaving the studio she extended her hand to the host and Matthews refused to shake hands because he didn't want the "whiteness" to "rub off" on him.

Isn't 'ass' one of those seven words?

"Ass" isn't one of those seven words. The only times I have uttered that word over the air was when announcing songs by "Big Ass Truck" or "The Ass Ponies" during a Monday 12 midnight - 3 AM shift at WMSV in Starkville in 1995. back when live jocks were on at that station at that hour. I didn't play those groups during my other shift, which was 6 AM - 9 AM on Saturdays. I figured I couldn't get away with it as much on Saturday mornings.

Speaking of shocking....I'm totally shocked that someone posted that Rick Dees had to be taught how to run a board?? Come on. When he arrived in Memphis he was quite capable of and experienced with running his own board. In fact, if you ever watched him perform, he was brilliant with his "drops" and levels and mixing ...... His days in NC prior to Memphis were certainly not spent with somebody else running his board.

Every station board was different and every set up was different and every program log was different and every transmitter log was different if you remember how it USED to be back in the old days and Dees was no different with all the newfangled state of the art equipment (at the time) we were using when he came here out from the stix. He had to learn what pot was what just like we all did at a brand new place with new equipment. Geez. I thought I was the drunk here. Taught Dees all the ABCees on running the whole deal and even taught him how to roll his R's. Now back to Thaddeus, I'm starting to think he's quite the showman in his own way. Maybe ole Thad will get canned like my old buddy Don Imus. Old Imus and I go way back to the drinking days together too.

Still here after all that beer

Tom, since I fancy myself a historian on all things WMPS, I need you to help me out.

When Dees arrived in Memphis from Birmingham in August 1974, were you working for WMPS?

I went back and checked my notes on air staffs through the years, and I can't find your name.

Ever hear Denis Leary's "A**hole" on the radio? Z100 in New York had played it with that word unbleeped back in '93...

Oh, and mea culpa on mixing up Ms. Bergmann's race in the OP. I guess that tells you all you need to know about Thad, doesn't it?

wow, this dude really is a piece of work. BTW. I certainly hope the stations audio doesn't sound as bad as the audio in the video clip. I could barely understand him. At least she was gracious when leaving by offering her hand. A lot of people would have gone all Jerry Springer on his ass.

Well that's funny, I checked my info and I sure don't see YOUR name on anything at WMPS. You certainly weren't around at the time. FYI I was doing some part time and taught young Dees all the ropes. He picked it up pretty quick.

Mabey old Thaddeus will get on Bill O'Riley like he did a year or so ago. That was a new low if there ever was one for Bill. Hey everybody, if it's noon Friday it's the weekend. I'll drink to that...for a good 72 hours or so.

Looks like Mark Skoda has cancelled Thaddeus' paid program....he'll be doing 2-6pm now.
