I've ALWAYS felt that the on-air Braves announcers were about the best in the biz and now I feel that way even more so. Due to having to be on the road in the evenings I've been forced to listen to the first two World Series games on XM MLB channel 175 and it's the Yankees broadcasting team doing the announcing.
Holy cow.
There is a female named Susan (Suzyn according to their webpage... reminds me of a great Brian Regan skit, but that's for another time...) and some older male. Susan sounds like a hormonal Ellen Degeneres (yes, I know, that's a double entendre') and the guy sounds like a cross between Rodney Dangerfield and Dean Martin, half-sloshed. But it's not their voices that drive me nuts. It's how inane and utterly amateur they are.
Tonight when Texiera homered, the guy went nuts screaming stuff like "He just sent 'em a Tex message!" and "Tex is on the Mark!!". And that's just ONE example. The gal is painful to listen to, just painful, and about every five minutes says "I have a question for you... I have a question..." Well if you have a question, just ask it, don't keep telling us you have a question.
Honest to God I was actually saying OUT LOUD to my radio "Shaddup!!!" to these two. This is the broadcast team of the #1 market in the US???
Thank God for Joe and Chip and Don and Jim and Boog. We're damn lucky to have 'em.
