Thank Goodness For Radio!

the nice thing about radio is that we, as professionals, can share ideas and opinions, both on and off the air. sadly - not here. several portions of our discussions have disappeared over the past 24 hours, and it makes me sad.

yes, as i've stated in one of the portions of a thread to which i posted that we are guests here, and it is at the discretion of the moderator. but i'm puzzled why there was no notation as to the movement or deletion of the posts. matter of fact, i was trying to explain this very fact to one of our fellow contributors who feel we are denying him his opinions. interesting that reminders of nettiquete need to be removed.

with that in mind - i'll continue to rock&roll and try to have some fun and stay employed, all at the same time. but will more than likely find other things to do with minutes of my life i'll never get back by posting here only to watch those contributions disappear.

Re: Thank Goodness For Radio! - clarification, of sorts

the disappearing posts from the thread in question have been apparently moved to "take it outside." i did inquire of the boards' managing editor who investigated and informed me of same.

With all due respect to both Chuck and Argy, both of whose posts and opinions I enjoy reading and respect, I think that the moderator was correct in moving your posts to "Take It Outside".

You both made arguably good points -- passionately -- but whew! It got a little heated.

(snip)

move 'em or delete 'em, it wouldn't bother me if there had been some sort of "notice" regarding same - my "complaint," if you will, was that the items were trashed, shifted, shredded et al without any note regarding their disposition.

I trust the judgement of the moderator....simply because that's why HE'S HERE! :D

As ray ting mentioned earlier...perhaps Chuck and I have gotten a little too passionate and perhaps a little too argumentative about various threads on the board.

But passion or disagreement concerning a current trend isn't necessarily bad...even though Chuck (and a few others) have 'verbally beat me up' for hijacking a thread! ::) If you check out some of the other message boards in other markets, this practice occurs as well!

There's always going to be a difference of opinion. Perspectives are (and will continue to be) different...based on how tight an employee happens to be with a broadcast group...or how much some of us love a profession that seems to be staggering (in the number of listeners and advertisers) at the moment.

I won't bring up the latest set of Portland ratings because the low numbers pretty much speak for themselves. ;)
