Your rejection of Walton & Johnson has seemingly made them so mad at Cumulus for dropping them on "The Bone" that they have left the building at sister Cumulus rocker KIOL here in Houston. Our gratitude and appreciation can not easily be put into words. Our FM dial is better because of it.

Unfortunately, it looks as though they are going to be coming back on 07/30/07 at legendary KPRC/Houston as 950 re-images as "Mojo 950" a guy talk format. Oh well....

I thought you all already had a Free/Live/Talk That Rocks "guy talk" station at 650 AM (perhaps KIKK? It's the CBS outlet that used to house the precursor to BizRadio.) Oh, and THREE (or is it 4?) sports talk stations. I just don't remember that many guys living in Houston to support that many "guy talk" formats, unless those stations are all happy chasing a pie that's no more than a 3.0 divided 5 ways now.

W&J...I don't know how they "lost their groove" since being here once before in the 80s, but boy, that show immediately dropped here with a resounding thud. Isn't today the day when Cindy Skull and Robert Miguel start mornings at The Bone? Suppose their knowledge base (new modern rock and local music) will be of any interest whatsoever to classic rock listeners?

Where's Cindy Scull? They had her name on the Bone's website this morning, now they took it off. Hmmm

Its cumulus, they're cheap by nature and dont have a f/t webmaster anymore...

I think something's up, because no one at the station is talking.

Read the news. Movement is afoot to go private before CC does.

Do you think a format change is coming? Because no one at the station is talking.

I don't think contracts have been signed.....ABSOLUTELY ZERO promotion of the new morning show on the air or at the Bone's website til today....

HMM am I missing something? I dont see anything about Cindy or the morning show on 93.3s web site..Better change your above statement to STILL ZERO promotion....

KIKK 650's "Kick Ass Talk" went under about 2 years ago. It airs CNN Headline News during most of the day now.

Houston's sports-talkers aren't very KTCK-like...they have 3 now. KBME 790 and KFNC 97.5 (Cumulus' ESPN outlet called "the Ticket" there) are mostly network feeds from Fox and ESPN. KILT 610 has local shifts mixed in between Jim Rome and Sporting News Radio. The local sports shows typically represent what is wrong with sports talk in most markets...too much time devoted to callers calling in (most of the phone calls become repetitive and don't really add much to the discussion). So, the 3's combined share is unimpressive...nowhere what KTCK gets on its own in D/FW. With the Arbitron meters now being used, KFNC and KBME didn't even show up in the ratings. KILT scores about what KESN does here.

Later this summer, Houston is supposed to get its 4th one...KILE 1560. Since it will be local, perhaps it will be run differently.

As for "hot talk", KPRC 950 there is going to give it a try as "Mojo Radio" using Walton & Johnson, Mancow, Michael Savage, etc.

Well stated, txchipk. Wait for another 6 months with Michael Berry at the helm of the CC/Houston AM's. "The 9-5-0, Radio Mojo" is one of many surprises I'm sure are in store down the road.

CBS' KIKK did indeed drop the "Kick Ass Talk" moniker about 2 years ago. It coincided with the departure of Howard Stern from CBS. Now it runs CNN Headline News audio during the day, and reverts to Standards as "Swinging 650" after 4:00pm until sign-off. I sure wish we still had our fulltime Standards station here in Houston. It's a treat when K double A M makes its way down here to the northern areas of Houston.
