Thanks for 20+ years at WTSA, John Ashley!

Yeah, thanks for boring radio the last ten years......

Here's a "Hot AC" station and that tool was playing Melanie, Bread, Jim Croce....

I guess he might have been interesting in the 80's, but that was then. That station (TSA) definitely needed a make over. Long over due!

To be fair, I never heard him play Melanie...but I have often wondered how England Dan and John Ford Coley fit into the Hot AC format in 2007... Probably one of the few Hot AC jocks that doesn't associate Rob Thomas with Matchbox Twenty.

That said, I will miss his Saturday morning oldies program vey much.

Banjo Guy,

I am not a programmer or manager, but a listener. I have heard that guy "crap" on the music he played (that he had to play). No DJ is bigger than the sum of the station. Certainly not a guy who from what I hear said he was involved in the community, but yet hadn't done a live broadcast since the Reagan adminastration.

People fear change, they shouldn't here, that guy was long winded, sorely out of touch, and really kind of sad to listen to. Kudos (I hate that word) to the Management for having the cajones to come to that realization.

John Ashley would make my Top 5 list for ....... Worst Jocks of all time. Long winded and boring. Dr Pepper is right, Long Over due

Doc,

I am not disagreeing with anything you are saying. The past several years he had become painful to listen to. If I ever had to hear him rant on the seatbelt law again...arrgh! Not what a Hot AC station needs in drive-time. I did enjoy the musical portion of his oldies show, though - such as it was.

From what I heard TSA is making a lot of changes for the better. I was informed about a year ago they had never done a live remote broadcast before the current management came into the building.

While I never heard his show myself, there are countless people who mistake an antenna for a soapbox and stump their own beliefs simply because no one chooses, or cares, to remind them they're there to serve the listeners.

New studios should be ready by the end of the year.

Not true. However, the quality of their remotes (they now call them "spotlight broadcasts") has drastically improved under the new regime. They certainly seem to be doing more now than they used to.
