Thanks for a 1963 Countdown WCBS

I just read on another board that WCBS is doing a 1963 countdown for the weekly Top 20. On that board, the poster feels it is "too old," but I am really pleased.

While I enjoy pretty much any year's countdown, I was hoping after the big A to Z with all the 50s stuff they'd be more willing to do something from 55-63 from time to time.

Jeff's commentaries and presentation (along with whoever helps him out production-wise) are fantastic. I'll really look forward to listening in this Sunday.

I wish that CBS-FM should go back to its roots which is pre-64 countdown sooner or later like the way Bobby Jay, Norm N Nite, Dan Taylor or Mike McCay usually does the Top 20 Countdowns many, many years ago when CBS-FM used to do that on Saturdays and Sundays between 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Maybe next week, the top 20 songs of August 3rd, 1956. That might be a great idea for a pre-64 countdown show, nothing but early rock & roll, standards and doo-wop.

Well, too late, they're already doing 1980 next week.

I would love to hear 1956 though. Especially to hear all the local NYC songs that never made it nationally. How about once a month do something pre-64?

Anything post 1955 would be fabulous, but then the anti 54+ demo programming posters would slam them.

Missed 1963, will check out 1980.

1980's gonna be GREAT!! 8) :) (I do hope to hear "Special Lady" by Ray, Goodman, and Brown - GOTTA LOVE THAT SONG!!) :) :) :)

Probably not "Special Lady"..that was out earlier in 1980 (Feb, Mar, Apr).

Maybe we'll hear "More Love" by Kim Carnes and "Magic" by O. Newton-John :)

Oh, ok 8) - well...I wouldn't mind hearing "More Love" - GOOD song!! :) (just saw Smokey performing it last week out in Coney Island....)

Speaking of CBS-FM countdowns, looks as if they are going to do a Top 500 countdown over Labor Day weekend, acc. to the Hall of Fame schedule. GOTTA LOVE IT :)

Any predictions on #1?

Either: Hey Jude, Stairway to Heaven, My Girl, Brown-Eyed Girl or Unchained Melody (Righteous Bros. version)

How about "In the Still of the Nite" by the Five Stains. They should stick at #1. Back in 2004, "Hey Jude" was #1 in the Top 500, but let's hope if "In the Still of the Nite" should stay at #1 forever to be at the top of the Top 500.

And the countdown will end after Labor Day, can you do a full listings of 500 songs played on CBS-FM's NY Top 500? I should play it on my iPod after the Labor Day weekend is over.

First of all, it's "Satins", NOT "Stains" :) ...

Secondly, as I indicated in my response to someone else, it is ANYBODY's guess at this point WHAT the #1 song would be....let's just vote at www.wcbsfm.com and see what happens (and don't worry, RadioTruth, I think they'll let YOU vote also!! ;) ;))
