Thanks Guys

Thanks for putting airchecks up that can be downloaded. I am sorry that I do not know how to do that. Most of my airchecks are on cassette. If I knew how to put a cassette aircheck on yousendit.com I would have airchecks up every week.

Once or twice I have sent tapes to people from this board who requested them and I have not asked for anything in return. It is because I download from here and the people whom I did not ask for a return on the trade have been guys who have put airchecks here to download.

I wish I could do more for you guys. You have been so generous with your airchecks. Thanks so much.

Hi Steven,

You are very welcome. You can send anything via yousendit.com, but for airchecks, it's easiest to send MP3s since they are very reduced in size. You can make MP3s with your computer.

If you are interested in learning how, let me know, or post here and I will teach you. It isn't hard.

John

Sounds like this is sort of a free-for-all, who ever wanst to do airchecks of the week, does them. Who ever doesn't, well just doesn't.

Unlike Steven I do not download the airchecks posted here.

I may do this when I get home though. I certainly have the hook-up and Sound Forge well I will finally upgrade it, I actually did pay for the upgrade but can't hook stuff up here.... So never bothered to install it.

I started AOTW as another way to share airchecks among the regulars on this board. I understand that there are some guys who can't upload and download, and that's fine. Steve sent me a WCBS-FM aircheck to post for him, which I did. Posting these airchecks is not fast and easy, more like slow and tedious. If an aircheck is already digital, that's great. If you have to convert it, that takes alot of time. Even if you don't contribute, you're welcome to download them.<P ID="signature">______________

Just about all of my airchecks are on cassette tape, unless they were downloaded from someone else's collection.

OK, here's the 10c tour of what you need to do, assuming you don't have a MP3 recorder.

Plug the audio out of your cassette player/stereo into the line in/mic in port of your computer. Install a recording program. There are many, some free. Start the program and press record. Press play on your cassette deck. You now have a MP3 (or sometimes a WAV).

There are other ways to do it, some ways more fancy than others. But, that's basically it.

Though as Matt says, no need to post, just enjoy the airchecks. But, I just wanted to convey how EASY it is - but it does take time. Time to record it (i.e. 90 minute tape takes 90 minutes to record) and time to upload (can be long depending upon your internet connection).

You also have to take in consideration the amount of time it sometimes takes to fix and edit an aircheck. I use Adobe Audition 1.5 and if an aircheck starts with commercials, I'll edit them out. If there is a lot of hiss, I'll try and reduce that. Here's great free program that will get you started Steve:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Download that, and have fun!

I have Replay Radio and it has been serving me well. Do you know if I can create folders on Replay Radio from a cassette tape? If so, then I will be able to post airchecks.

I will need to experiment with this.

I thought so. Now I just have to get in the mood to "tinker."
