Thanks ICHABOD. Great run

Is this a joke? I heard the rumor late this afternoon. I saw some sort of press release but assumed it was a joke. The release sounded like he was not retiring but would be showing up somewhere else in the market. Certainly his numbers remain solid, especially in women where he remains top five 25-54 and in many months right next to KRWM and KPLZ. They may be down from the diary, but still a very strong morning show.

Get real. having worked with Ick in the past I can assure you he will be fine. How out of touch can this board be. Let's follow the trail people:

1. KAFE moves this week, the final puzzle piece to making KMCQ 104.5 a full market signal
2. 104.5 moves to a tower owned by Entercom
3. Mike Preston who worked for year with Ick is now PD at the Wolf working for Entercom

People people it is a brilliant move.

1. Ick leaves KMPS opening up more audience for the Wolf and Fitz. They go to number one
2. Ick when the non-compete ends is the morning guy on the Oldies station at 104.5. A perfect place for a legendary Seattle talent who still has a fan base

Entercom gets a double win. Mike Preston you are devious and a damn genius!!!

I'm assuming his contract is up and CBS is offering less money.

It's all about parameters now. IMHO.

If he signed his deal before the recession and now the billing to salary to ratings ratios are not in line with corporate dictates then they will seek to find a talent that costs less than they make per point in that daypart.

All the big owner groups are doing the parameters now...

Its a numbers biz with the bankers in control.

Im sorry to bust your bubble. Though Im pretty sure that the "Oldies" MP3 player will not make the move with the transmitter to Cougar.

The battle between Ichabod and Fitz was one of the historic duels, sorry to see it end. Good radio aimed at different audiences with FITZ brining in 18-34 and 25-54. Ichabod won 35-64. I am surprised KMPS did not lean Classic Country and keep Icabod :-[ Cowboys I can tell you for a Fact that 104.5 if owned by Entercom will NOT be Oldies cause they been there, done that :-* So put that notion in the ole turd whirler. Lets see Mike Preston programs WOLF and if Entercom gets a new frequency what other format could Preston be good at programming ??? What station is just a tad ahead of WOLF 18-34  Get ready for a whole lot of change Seattle and this is just the beginning ::)

Back to the original post and this cowboy would like to congratulate Ichabod for a hell of a run. A man of faith, integrity and a top competitor. Ichabod did this market proud from one cowboy to another. No emoticon needed.

In November of 2008 the top station in Seattle in morning drive was KMPS. The top morning station in men was KZOK. The top morning station in women was KPLZ. The top morning station 18-34 was KUBE. All had long running, heritage morning shows.

In November of 2009 the top station in Seattle in morning drive was KJAQ. The top station in men was KJAQ. The top station in women was KPLZ. The top station 18-34 was KBKS.
Two heritage morning shows now gone KUBE and KMPS; along many others including KNDD, KBSG, KWJZ, KMTT, KIRO, KVI and so it goes.

2009 is the year of change. I hope a couple of the heritage shows survive. For years people on this board have been posting that Ichabod, Rivers, K@A and T-Man needed to go. Looks like you are getting your wish. Change is part of radio, but so much in one year?

Historic duel?

You might want to educate yourself on Seattle radio history before you let your ego make such a ludicrous statement.

Nah, that would let the facts get in the way of things and how much fun would THAT be?

Big props to TIFM & IARUAW for two gut-busting laughers tonight. Between you two and the mental midget from Phoenix I haven't laughed so hard in all my life.

Will be sad to listen to his final show Friday. He's had a great run in this market.

Ichabod is a CLASS act. And a DAMN tough one to to follow. Best wishes to a Northwest radio legend.....

Wow....This is really sad. I have worked with Ick in the past and he is a wonderful person.
However, I am very happy for him personally.

I'm worried about Seattle Radio. Talent is going going.........

Iamrightanduarewrong: Are you a complete idiot?

Mike Preston worked in the building at the same Ickabod did. For you to imply
they are fast friends and now Ick's leaving to go work with Mike is simply a joke.
Even Becky B. would laugh at that one.

Oh, that's right I forget you're the guy who thinks Jackie and Bender have talent.

Enough said.

Now that's something we can agree on, Larry.

Offical Statement-

I heard the real reason is because CBS execs wanted Scallops off the air so Ick walked...

Ichabod Caine leaves the airwaves at Seattle country KMPS (94.1) tomorrow, after more than 20 years there. Phyllis Stark, the executive editor for country music here at Radio-Info.com, says Ichabod's "Waking Crew" morning co-host "Scallops" is also departing. Which makes sense - she's married to Caine. Co-hosts Randy Scott and Stephen Kilbreath will stay on the show while CBS exes decide what to do.
