Thanks KTOK!

Amazing...

Urban fires destoying houses, tons of people being evacutated, all 3 stations in wall-to-wall news... MWC fire chief saying the damage is worse than May 3rd...

Meanwhile,

KTOK is airing a Redhawks game, while KEBC is in Fox Sports Radio... It might be a good community service to have bumped that game to 1340 and just simulcast kfor, if you have no resources.

oh well, not my decision

They wouldn't want to intterupt the all impotent Jimmy Hill Show for wall-to-wall coverage. After Hill's show is a real ratings winner!

Although KOMA was not wall-to-wall, Ken Johnson did two five-minute summaries per hour on my show 7-10pm featuring Gary England, News 9 copter reporters, the Red Cross head, victims, eye-witnesses and more. Plus bulletins, as warranted, such as the evacuation of homes near Draper and shelter news. After that we aired calls from listeners on the scene with info on what help was still needed at food drops, etc. I am not hear to promote my station but am proud of how KOMA responded to the immediacy of this local tragedy, as well as Ken's extraordinary reporting. That is what local radio should be about!
