What's H-E-B?

Edit: Just did a Wiki. H-E-B is a San Antonio-based supermarket chain. First time I heard/read of a supermarket chain sponsoring a parade. :-[ ;D

ixnay

there are two stores now in North Texas with more planned ;D

In Houston, We had Our Annual H-E-B Holiday Thanksgiving Day, which was carried by KHOU-TV, A CBS Affilliate, in which case it was shown live and then it was replayed twice. And all of that was done in lieu of CBS's Thanksgiving Day Parade's 3-Hour live Coverage.

Troy, is that the parade that used to be the Foley's parade? I know it's gone thru a few name changes since then.

Well, to answer that question, easttxtv; The H-E-B Thanksgiving Holiday Parade was called The BankUnited/WaMu Holiday Parade, which it was taken over from Foley's, of course. However, Foley's was bought up by Macy's, who also happens to have its own parade. And WaMu was taken over by Chase.

KHOU has been carrying the H-E-B parade for over a decade now, and H-E-B has been serving customers in Texas, Louisiana, & in Mexico. With more stores opening up in a city near you, H-E-B happens to be a major player in the Grocery Business.

So far, not impressed with Amy Kule - or her commentary maybe - as she cut the ribbon to open the parade with Robin Hall.

These days, just Texas and Mexico -- they closed its only Louisiana store in Lake Charles in 2003, which first opened in 1996.

Which was the strongest Tournament of Roses Parade affiliate? :D
KTLA, duh! They've been broadcasting the Rose Parade from day one!!!

Besides KTLA, the other parade broadcasters are NBC, HGTV, and Univision.

Did KTLA produce the syndicated Hollywood Christmas parade too.

On the subject of the Rose Parade I really don't see the point of so many networks carrying it. Two or three (broadcast and cable combined) should be more than enough.

Yes, KTLA produces the Hollywood Christmas Parade. But only airs live in Los Angeles and syndicated afterwards.

Thank's I always enjoy watching the Hollywood Parade. They always have a great hosts.Yes NBC and CBS Thanksgiving parades should get someone out of Hollywood instead of using inside network people.I know it's a cheap way to do the job.but the parade will be more interesting with a actor actress combo then a morning show hosts. Also I was upset with NBC's coverage, the first hour was wasted as they waited for the main part started.i still have to watch the CBS's version.

Phoenix has the Fiesta Bowl Parade-presented by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation (Fort McDowell Casino)

I didn't watch one second of the Thanksgiving Day Parade because despite what CBS & NBC want you to think, the rest of the world doesn't revolve around NYC.

Bring on the Doo-Dah Parade.

I haven't had time to read much, or any of this thread, but why did the Macy's parade get a TV-PG? That's Un-American. Patrades always get a TV-G.

Then PG is a farce. Since when did women's legs become obscene?

As I mentioned earler in this thread, I was turned-off by the hosts being super-sensitive to using the term "Christmas". "Let's make sure we call it a holiday parade", I'm pretty sure I heard from one of the hosts. That is out of touch with real America, and extremely way too PC. No, we don't need to call it a "Christmas" parade, but we don't need to avoid the word either.

A family-oriented parade getting a TV-PG rating. The opening of the movie "The Nude Bomb" featuring Don Adams' Maxwell Smart character comes to mind:

"Would you believe... A film called 'The Nude Bomb' would get a [PG] rating."

(The [PG] was the actual MPAA rating icon.)

PG was very loose in those days. Take a movie like Hooper with Bert Reynolds. Basically every swear word under the sun that didn't start with "F" was uttered. A brief flash of jiggly boobs popping out of oversized cake and lots and lots of alcohol drinking (including drinking and driving).

I can't believe someone else other than myself remembers "The Nude Bomb" :D

"Grease" probably wouldn't have gotten a "PG" rating if not for that "blue moon" scene... ::)

The only excuse I can think of...Kanye West - just in case.

He behaved himself.

I'm with you. The TV rating system is sometimes a farce. Macy*s Parades should always have a G rating, period.

..and there was a time when even the rating of "G" was kinda loose too. The 1968 David Niven-Ozzie Nelson-Christine Ferarre "The Impossible Years" is an example of that one. I still laugh to this day over that nude painting scene and David Niven doing just about anything he can just to find out who had taken away his daughter's ( Ferarre ) virginity. Rated G ! !
