Thanksgiving Parade coverage

I went back and forth between NBC and CBS this year and I think both networks did a good job. I wish CBS would go back to doing the Philadelphia parade, doing the Macy's parade they were a bit like an also ran since NBC had the premiere coverage.

There were 2 big pluses that I noticed this year. One NBC used to pile on promotions for their shows, in past years it seemed like every float and every person in the parade was from a "hit" NBC show. They really toned it down. The other thing is they extracted the corn from the dialog. Some of the comments in past years were so corny it ruined my appetite.

All in all, a much better balance this year.

What was the rating for the Thanksgiving Parade on CBS ?

I think the Philadelphia parade (main sponsor is IKEA after Boscov's dept. store filed for ch. 7 bankruptcy three years ago) produced by local ABC affiliate, WPVI-6, has been expanding their network in recent years. I was visiting my mom in Northeast PA (Wilkes-Barre/Scranton) last week and the parade was broadcast locally on the CW affiliate WSWB, channel 38. Granted it was sorta weird to see local weather spots every now and again being piped in from their sister station, WOLF/Fox 56. I think the group also runs a My Network affiliate based out of Williamsport, PA with call license of WQMY...

But yeah, the co-hosts for the parade this year, Cecily Tynan and ther other guy I forget, kept rattling off other stations that were airing the coverage and I think the Philadelphia parade was being shown as far south as North Carolina IIRC...

The H.E.B. Holiday Parade in Houston was broadcast by Belo's KHOU--11 here in Houston. I personally attended the parade (great 70 degree weather for a parade!) so I didn't see the TV broadcast. My understanding is that the other Belo stations in Texas also showed the parade (although I don't know if they carried it live) -- WFAA-8 in Dallas, KENS-5 in San Antonio and KVUE-24 in Austin. Can anyone confirm this? Also, what other cities had TV stations that showed the H.E.B. Holiday parade from Houston?

(Note, HEB stresses that it is calling the parade a "holiday parade" instead of a "thanksgiving parade" because some markets will show the parade in syndication not on Thanksgiving Day, but still uses the words "Thanksgiving Parade" on signage at the site, etc.
Also, I thought it was great that Santa at the end of the parade was waving a big Texas flag!

I haven't had time to read much, or any of this thread, but why did the Macy's parade get a PG? That's Un-American. (Parades_ always get a G.

The only excuse I can think of...Kanye West - just in case.

I'm with you. The TV rating system is sometimes a farce. Macy*s Parades should always have a G rating, period.

My feeling was there was a performance from "American Idiot".

Then again, they kept showing a Victoria's Secret ad on the side of a building which was kind of risque, considering it wasn't a beach.
