Thanksgiving Parade

So K-104.7 had its mascots (I don't remember their names) carrying the banner at the start of the parade.

I call that a good sign.

Kiss had a float.

WPEG and V-101.9 shared one. Those Power 98 guys seem to be doing everything right. If they're like that on the air, no wonder they stay so popular.

WBT used to have a double-decker bus. I wonder if it's gone because WBT and WBTV, which airs the parade, are no longer co-owned? And one BIG question--that WBT bus was always at the rear of the parade behind Santa Claus. There WAS no Santa Claus! The parade just abruptly ended. The people telling us about the parade didn't even bother to say anything. While interviewing someone, they said people were cleaning up behind them. What a way to run a railroad!

I used to enjoy seeing all the radio station entries. I think there were more of them this year than in other recent years, but it still doesn't seem like a lot.

Have they ever had it in the morning? I thought that woman was crazy saying it was morning. I taped the Macy's parade so I could go eat, and so I could fast-forward through the contemporary music. I turned on the parade at 1 and found football, so I knew I'd have to wait for the game to be over.

That was some nice music someone was playing with certain floats. Not from a radio station, I'm guessing. It was either from the floats or from WBTV.

Nice of Belk to limit the commercial breaks.

Why is seeing the K-104.7 mascots a good sign? Just some interns in the promotion department, that's all. There's still not a full time staff over there. Just to be fair let me add the air staff at Lite is rather small.

WBT hasn't had the double-decker bus in many years. They got rid of it while I was there (sometime in the late '80's). Times were tough back then so they started cutting out a lot of extra things.

Thanks for the report, I didn't get a chance to see any of the parades this year.

Why would they have mascots of a station about to change format?

If I may be allowed to comment further on the parade and its non-radio topics, I miss seeing bands from all the various high schools in the area. Seems like all they want now are these community bands, mostly from the black neighborhoods--in Charlotte, when it's supposed to be a parade for the whole area. Yes, they're talented and everything, but I remember when they had my high school (I was in chorus, not band), and when my cousin's high school (when my cousin was marching), and another high school where I used to live (where a little girl had grown up to be drum major).

No one ever said they were going to change format for sure. They just had a staff reduction. Anything is possible of course! They might have mascots from the station right up to the day before they changed format. Most times these commitments are made way in advance.
