We had a safe path over the "Beam" where we would go and then turn the stereos up on the other side. Some of my fondest KROQ memories (in fact, I was turned on to KROQ by a fellow box boy)come from working the graveyard shift at Gemco. Remember the "Hollywood Nightshift" with Fraser Smith and some guys from Firesign Theatre? Rodney in primetime? John Clark, who used to do the Music Plus commercials "Believe in us, we're Music Plus" Chuck Randall and the "Skylab catchers mitt". Talking Heads playing on the steps of Royce Hall at UCLA, Rodney spinning at the Starwood, Perkin's Palace, the Cuckoo's Nest...

Magic.

KROQ, Gemco, Shecky get the Jet..we're outta here!

>We had a safe path over the "Beam" where we would go and then turn the stereos up on the other side.<

We did too, but every now and then a Grocery cart would violate the 'Beam of Safety'.

>Remember the "Hollywood Nightshift" with Fraser Smith and some guys from Firesign Theatre?<

There hasn't been a day since the late 70's that I haven't thought of Fraser. I think he is permanatley ingrained in my mind?

>Rodney in primetime?<

Yes. How about the Insane Darryl Wayne doing the original 'Flashback Lunch' (no flashbacks, an hour of commercial free Roq of the 80's), He did 12 to 4 PM, and 12 to 4 AM, that was INSANE.

>John Clark, who used to do the Music Plus commercials "Believe in us, we're Music Plus.<

What a crummy chain that was! Actually John Clark was great during his KWST Days. And isn't he Andrew Amador from TV?

And Perkins Palace! I gave out tons of tickets to Perkins Palace in Pasadena, but only went there once to see the Waitresses, and a new wave group from Japan called the Plastics. Lot's of racial shouts to this group, as everyone anxiously awaited the Waitresses...jeez
