Kiss 107 is going with syndicated show now in the mornings, look for WEBN to do the same.

Who would that Be? Free Beer and Hot Wings? B 92.1 down in Lexington KY runs their show. They sound too much like Bob and Tom though.

Nope KISS 107 is going with The Kane Show out of Washingotn D.C.

I saw that. I was wondering about WEBN. I'm hearing that they are going with someone out of Atlanta. The only person I can think of is Kidd Chris who did mornings at Project 9 6 1.

Chris Williams, most recently PD of “Project 9-6-1” Atlanta, joins the cluster as Operations Manager for Rock 102.7 WEBN, CHR “Kiss 107” WKFS, and recent Alternative sign-on “Project 100.7/106.3” W264BW/W292BT. He replaces Casey Krukowski who was let go as PD of WEBN and Project yesterday.

Look at WEBN's Facebook page, I see at least two comments related to the morning show that have been "liked" by The Kidd Chris Show Facebook page, so there might be something to that rumor.

Kidd Chris as the new WEBN morning show would not surprise me at all since their new OM is from Project 96.1. He could even do the show from Atlanta.

Funny thing is, the station had similar ratings to what WEBN has now and CC gave Project the Ax for Rhythmic/CHR.

I see Premium Choice has been ditched from WEBN overnights; the music now matches the other dayparts. WEBN is down to about 1 classic rock song an hour now (on average). They are a straight-up Active Rock station. The playlist is a near replica of what Project 9-6-1 in Atlanta played.

Will be interesting to see if this works. Project in ATL had tons of trouble getting money demo numbers. Of course, the Tri-State is a much different market than Atlanta in terms of demographics and lifestyle. The (mostly) young audience of Project is severely hurt by the loss of their station; they adored it and are very upset about the change to CHR/Pop. Project was the only true Active Rock station on a full-market signal that ATL has ever had.

Wow. Looks like they're moving 'EBN to an Active Rock format to take on 96Rock more than they have been. Still strange they didn't give Mark & Mo more time with that audience since they both came from Active Rocker 99.7 The Blitz/Columbus/WRKZ.

And your new morning show is KIDD CHRIS

This is interesting, Kidd Chris is a pretty well-known and respected "hot talk" (for lack of a better term) host, I've heard Opie & Anthony speak highly of him in the past. Could Clear Channel be slowly morphing WEBN into a man talk/active rock format like sister station WMMS in Cleveland?

Virtually every Active Rock station in the country plays Metallica and Pearl Jam. A fair number still play a little bit of classic rock from the 70's & 80's.

Active Rock does not mean current/recurrent intensive. The format as a whole moved away from that formula a LONG time ago. Most reporters only play 2 currents/recurrents an hour. What distinguishes the format from Mainstream Rock is the percentage of titles played from each decade and the texture of the music. Active Rock = mostly hard rock from the 90's thru now.

WEBN is playing 1 - 2 classics an hour. That's very much in line with other stations in the format, such as KQRC in Kansas City, WBYR Fort Wayne, 98Rock in Baltimore, and KISS in San Antonio.

WRIF in Detroit is a (fraudulent) Active Rock reporter, and they play much more classic rock and much less millennial gold than WEBN.

As much as I would like to see Clear Channel do this on 102.7, I doubt they would because of WLW which is local 24/7 unlike WTAM which has more syndicated programming. Cox ditched music for man talk on 102.5 The Bone in Tampa and it's doing well there but unfortunately I doubt it will be tried here in the near future unless Hubbard would do it.
