That didn't take long...KEZB is back!

I was in Nada, Texas yesterday for a funeral and while scanning the dial I came across 96.1 KEZB from Edna playing country music. What's the story with this KEZB? Did it come on the air after 105.3 flipped to Bob, or did they just acquire the calls and place them on an already existing station? I don't remember a 96.1 on the air when I was last in Victoria, so it has to be relatively new. Any info would be greatly appreciated.<P ID="signature">______________

Actually, this station has been around for a long time now. I cannot recall the old call leters but i do know it simulcasted a country format out of victoria. It recently stoped simulcasting like a year ago and it went off the air until recently. I guess somebody from that area coiuld give you more information about it.

I believe the old callsign was KGUL, owned by Roy Henderson... I believe it's the same guy that owns KEZB - now KTWL.. so he just swapped the callsigns onto the other station... I have no idea why.

You are correct... According to recnet, it's was the old KGUL with the call changing March 8th and yep owned by LaGrange Broadcasting solely owned by Mr. Henderson

RFLA

Yep,, Lonestar FM 104.7 KZAM // KGUL 96.1
KGUL was silent for quit sometime, but they came back on. It use to be KZAM 104.7, KGUL 96.1 and KAJI point comfort, but KAJI changed calls to KJAZ a while back that took the old calls from 99.3 in north Austin that station use to be a country station but is now a religous station...

the callsign of KGUL goes back a long ways in the houston area, they were on channel 11 back when they were in galveston in the 50s, then later they showed up on AM 1560 in port lavaca for a long time in the 70s and 80s, then resurfaced on 96.1 out of edna a couple of years ago.
