That little station that DID

I'm not sure if there's been threads here but, what happened to WMCR? For years, I remember it was owned by the Warrens.
Do they still air "The Trading Post"?

The FM put out a hell of a good signal was able to hear it in Syracuse loud and clear near the Dome.

Vivian Warren sold the station in 2009 to a man named James V. Johnson. Selling price: $950k. It was his first purchase in what is now called the "Leatherstocking Media Group."

The new ownership decided to do away with the 10pm signoff (it was never required by the FCC) and keep the stations running 24 hours. CDs and carts have been replaced with digital equipment to make voicetracking possible. They also announced plans to split the AM/FM simulcast.

WMCR-FM still has the Trading Post every weekday morning. It still plays music, though since December 2009, it's been focused on the A/C format, calling itself "Mix 106."

The following February, the plans to split the AM/FM simulcast came to fruition. AM 1600 is part of the three-station "CNY Talk Radio" simulcast that originates at WFBL in Syracuse, and includes WUTI (formerly WRUN) in Utica. This is all syndicated talk programming. (Leatherstocking bought the former Buckley cluster in Syracuse a few months after it bought WMCR, hence the WFBL connection.)
