Forget about KYOK moving to Katy and reducing power from 5,000 to 700 watts. It's not happening now, and maybe never, since the FCC has flatly turned down the idea. The 700-watt signal may cover fewer square miles, but if those square miles are in a more heavily-populated area they may contain more people than the 5,000-watt coverage area. What would you rather have, a 3,000-watt station in downtown Houston, or a 100,000-watt outlet covering that big chunk of emptiness between Pecos and El Paso?

True. I just figured a 5 kw station in Conroe would put a fairly decent signal into Houston. Maybe not.
