The 104.9 translator in Bridgeport

While driving toward Bridgeport recently, I was listening to my employer, WIHS, and waiting for the inevitable interference from that 104.9 translator. Expecting either Portuguese or Heretic Camping's Radio, I heard contemporary Christian music on it! (I confirmed that it was NOT WKLV.)

I didn't get enough time (nor a steady enough signal) to get an ID. Who/what is that translator doing, nowadays?

I think the 104.9 in Bridgeport is still used by WFAR from Danbury. They are Christian during the day and Spanish at night. Their audio is not very good. I work in Danbury and they call themselves Hope FM. They fill the gap where WIHS and K-LOVE don't cover. They aren't much good for my commute from Monroe because you can't get a decent signal until you are almost into Danbury. I usually try to grab the sound of life on 89.1 from Pawling NY.

That makes sense, WFAR is only 15 watts at 62 meters above average terrain.

104.1 is fully spaced to 104.9 in all aspects, but how does that matter to this thread?

I have no idea how 104.1 even got into this... it is completely irrelevant! ;)

I was talking about the WFAR translator on 104.9 in Bridgeport, and how it knocks a big hole into the coverage of WIHS, 104.9 in Middletown. When that translator is off the air, the signal from WIHS is listenable in the Bridgeport area. When it is on the air, Bridgeport, Stratford, and Trumbull are all gone, while part of Milford gets significant interference, making WIHS almost unlistenable there.
