I haven't been to the Rockingham Park horse-racing track in Salem, NH for years, but one thing I remember when I did: horses that had won several races at the Marshfield Fair weroften favorites when they ran at The Rock! And most of the time, they flopped miserably. I don't even know if there's still racing in Marshfield any more, but victories there were the most contrary indicators before that term was widely used in the business papers.

Nice to see you pop up again Joe, I hope this finds you and your family well!

It's funny you posted this as I was asking one of our mutual friends down on Enterprise Drive if the spots had started running yet.

It'll be good to hear you in the market again, if only for a week or so.

You know Labor Day is right around the corner when you hear Joe doing the "Fair" spots.

The fairs (Marshfield, Brockton, Northampton, Great Barrington) were the bottom of the barrel. Wins there meant nothing when the horses showed up at Rockingham. Heck, most of the horses who ran at the fairs were sent there from Rockingham because they couldn't come close to finishing in the money there. I can't recall any of them being heavily bet upon their return, although you're right that a Marshfield win in the past performances was a sure sign of an impending loss if the next race was at the Rock.
