The "2 Broke Girls" Thread

Anyone plan to watch this new sitcom? Having seen the previews and the promos, it looks like this one will be a keeper for CBS. At this day and age we do need a "successor" to "Laverne & Shirley."

It certainly doesn't hurt that its airing in CBS' Monday comedy block. With NBC's Thursday block being a shell of its former self, in terms of ratings not quality, Monday on CBS is the best chance at having a go with a successful traditional sitcom.

No we don't. Hopefully "2 Broke Girls" is much better than L&S.

Amen! Thank you. I have never understood the high ratings, admiration, and (later) nostalgia that Laverne and Shirley engendered. I didn't care for Happy Days either, but I understood the attraction.

So wonderful that we later had Laverne & Company to watch.
Hmmm...I'd love to see Penny Marshall make a guest apearance (or be a regular) on 2 broke girls. It would sure be interesting...

No plans to watch here either, but based on the popularity of other similar
comedies on TV now, it will probably be a smash hit. These days just give
a comedy a great time slot and a laugh every 10 words........$$$ in the bank.

I liked Kat Dennings in "Raising Dad" and the movie "Charlie Bartlett", so I'm giving it a shot.

Same here. She was also excellent as Nora in the film Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist, with Michael Sera. Many actors leave their talent at the door when they star in TV sitcoms, but I'm going to watch it at least once to check iit out.

Remember when Shirley quit, and then Lenny quit, and Mrs Babish had already left years ago. And that left just Laverne and Carmine, Squiggy and her dad. Well this show is about 50 steps below that era.

Kat Dennings is trying to do a character that is basically the same type character that Leah Remini played on "King of Queens." Only Leah played that girl with the NY attitude very well and Dennings plays it like someone trying to impersonate Remini.

This show is below last year's "$h*! My Dad Says"

I watched the CBS preview of their fall shows, and I didn't see anything funny in the 2 Broke Girls clips. At one point, the blonde clueless girl accidentally squirts Reddi-Whip all over her chest. Hilarious. (Or you would think so from the laugh track, because it was cranked up to 11.)

Plus, that Kat Dennings chick has really porked up from when she was in the 40 Year Old Virgin. And it looks like she's still playing the angry sullen hipster, so, you know, I think I'll pass.

If Kat Dennings' appearance fits your definition of "porked up," then it provides yet another illustration of why women become anorexic. No - she's not petite, but hardly overweight, either.

As for the show itself - not bad, but hardly appointment TV. Decent writing, but nothing out of the box. I might watch it again if 'there's-nothing-else-on' but that rarely happens for me anymore, thanks to my DVR.

I was impressed with the episode. Especially with the "final tally for their dream cupcake business" that showed up at the end.

It looks like they'll be raising more than just cash this season with the audience numbers they got.

I liked William Shatner a lot in that but it didn't have much else to offer. I just missed Denny Crane.

I never cared for "King of Queens" though I like Kevin James in his movies. I'm disappointed Kat isn't the rich girl because I actually like her better. Kat isn't what I was hoping for. The street-smart poor girl teaching the suddenly poor rich girl should still be enough to make me watch.
